Stalybridge Celtic Whites 5 v 1 Moston Valley............By Tim Kieran..........
Another good game today saw the two sides battle hard, Celtic had the majority of the possession and played some outstanding football, with excellent passing, good movement off the ball, each player making themselves available, finding good space, this enabled Celtic to create a lot of goalscoring opportunities. Each player showing good composure on the ball, laying the ball off easy if needed and also playing the balls intelligently through the channels and out to the wide men. There was lots of skill on show today with great footwork, good turns, and top drawer ball control.
Lets not take anything away from Moston who gave a good account of themselves, they were very strong in the tackle, thwarting many of the Celtic attacks with slide tackles and throwing themselves in front of the Celtic shots. Moston played some decent football, this made for a good enjoyable game ...

SCJFC Blues 0 v 4 Moston Junior Blues....By Alun Ireland.....
The Blues got a lesson in passing and moving in a difficult game against one of the better teams in the league.
Moston’s organisation, passing, work rate and commitment were outstanding and Celtic struggled to match them.
The Blues had the worst start possible, conceding in the first minute when they gave away possession on the edge of their own box. Thomas had no chance as a well struck shot flew into the roof of the net.
Celtic almost equalised straight from the restart, a perfectly weighted Daniel S pass putting Adam in space, and his strike from distance hit the cross bar.
But from there the boys were always chasing the game, and struggled to carve out clear chances to equalise, and only brave tackling from Jack and Daniel S keeping the score to 1-0.
Moston’s second goal came when the defence was left three on two at the back, and a clinical finish doubled the l...

Boundary Park B 0 V 12 SCJFC Whites...........................BY Tim Kieran........................
A slightly different format today Boundary were a player short so the Celtic manager did the fair thing and played five boys instead of the usual six, this didn't change the balance at all with the Celtic boys flying out of the traps and finding themselves one up within thirty seconds - Niall opening the account.
To be fair Boundary could have equalised straight after their kick off, Celts got caught short at the back as Boundary moved up field and only a double save from Tom kept Celtic one up.
On three minutes Robson tucked away his shot to make it 2-0. Moments later a good passage of play between Oscar and Joe saw Joe finish of the move with an excellent shot past the keeper to make it 3-0.
A couple of blinks of the eye saw the now rampant Celts score yet again courtesy of Oscar- a thunder finish leaving the Boundary keeper no chance. 4-0.
The first half wasn't all one wa...

SCJFC Whites 5 V 0 Failsworth West Tigers...................By Tim Kieran...............
Another great performance today saw a rampant Celtic cruise to another deserved victory against well established opponents
The game started a little quiet with both teams finding their feet in the sodden conditions- getting used to the wet ball and zippy ground conditions.
The Celtic boys soon got to grips with the game and with some neat passing from all the team the first goal arrived courtesy of Declan, a good finish into the roof of the net, the provider Oscar with a teasing cross from the right.
The second goal, a special this one,was a solo effort from Callum showing great footwork whilst beating three opposing players then dispatching his shot into the bottom corner Left footed.
The first half finishing two nil with Celtic well in control of affairs.
The second half started with Celtic looking good and playing some lovely football, when they rar...

Broadway Celtic 0 V 4 SCJFC Blues.......................By Alun Ireland.........................................................
The Blues returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory over
Broadway Celtic. The scoreline did not reflect Celtic’s dominance as
they created chance after chance, easily having more than 20 shots at
goal.
In terrible conditions, the Blues were quickly out of the traps to
immediately dominate position. William ran the game from midfield,
knowing instinctively when he should run into space or find a team
mate.
But a few chances went begging before Celtic could get on the
score-sheet thanks to some brave goalkeeping and last ditch defending.
The first goal came when William was quickest to react to a clearance
from the keeper, striking the ball so cleanly that the goalie could not
keep it out even though he got a good hand on it. From there it was all
Celtic for the rest of the half, as Jack hit the bar from a...

Moston Juniors Reds 4 V 2 SCJFC Blues................By Rob Jones...............
With hindsight this was a match lost in the
first eight minutes as Moston Juniors Reds raced into a three goal
lead. Perhaps the early kick-off and the freezing weather contributed
to some poor defending leaving the opposition forwards unopposed in
front of goal and Deacon with no chance on each occasion. The third
goal at least sparked a response and 5 minutes before half-time a
corner from Conor was flicked in on the volley by Will. Deacon made a
great save just before half-time and then Daniel L latched onto a fine
pass from Connor and shot under the keeper to make it 2-3. Amazingly,
It could have been all square at the break as the two Daniels combined
well - Daniel S playing a fine pass from defence and Daniel L’s shot
was well saved by the keeper.HT 2-3
Moston Juniors Reds started the
second half in much the same way as the first and could have scored a
couple more...

Chaddy End 1 v 7 SCJFC u9's Whites
The White team continued their unbeaten record this season with an emphatic win against Chaddy End FC.
The football they played today really was top draw with some unbelievable one touch passing and moving which had Chaddy End chasing Shadows. The Boys were 1 up within five minutes a superb Corner move finished by Robson. Further Goals minutes later from Niall and Robson again saw the boys cruising from the start and it really could have been more with some great runs by Joe who eventually made it four nil at Half time.. The Chaddy Keeper was playing a blinder keeping out some ferocious shots from Callum and from Robson. Half time 0-4.
The second half saw Chaddy get into the game the first five minutes though Archie was at the back to sweep up any pressure, though Chaddy scored from a trickled shot that hit the post and went in.. A dazzling run from Oscar taking on three players before drilling left footed made it five and still th...

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 3 v 0 Midway.......................................By Tim Kieran................................
Not much to write about today, the game could have gone either way, Celtic were below par, but credit must go to the opposition, Midway gave it all they had especially their back line, the team not giving Celtic any time on the ball restricting our play to the odd good move. Both teams had chances to score in the first period and another day maybe could have seen two apiece at half time, today however the chances were spurned 0-0 at the break.
The second half was a better affair with Celts upping their game with Joe creating good Stalybridge moves from the back, the deadlock broken with Robson scoring a left foot volley from close range, this seemed to settle Celtic down a little and with Midways defence finally broken their heads dropped slightly. The second goal arrived after a strong shot from distance off Declan was saved well by the...

Middleton Colts 1 V 1 SCJFC Blues.................By Rob Jones.......................
This was a frustrating game that the blues should have won convincingly, but bad
luck, poor finishing and an outstanding display from Middleton’s keeper
resulted in them only taking a point against one of the weaker teams in
the league. The Blues were camped in the Middleton half for almost all
of the first period, the keeper making fine saves from shots by Adam,
Owen and Daniel L. The only time Middleton created a chance Conor
chased back and put in a fine tackle to clear the danger. Just before
half time a brilliant run down the left wing by Will ended in a shot
that hit the side netting. HT 0-0
The second half started like the first, with Middleton's keeper making two great saves from shots by Conor and Owen.
But half way through the second half, Middleton broke out of defence and with Stalybridge having committed too many men forward Daniel S was left on his own...

Whitworth Park 2 v 9 SCJFC Whites.............By Tim Kieran.......................
A bit of an untidy start to the game, this maybe could be blamed on the opposition turning up over 10 minutes late. Celtic were soon 1-0 up-Callum the scorer, a shot at goal only to see the keeper attempt to kick it to safety and only producing an air kick, with the ball rolling into the net.
Joe nearly made it 2-0 but his effort sailed just past the upright, the score did double with good work from Dec, showing good control, he crossed to Callum who finished really well.
Throughout the first half the boys were getting well into their stride, notably Niall was doing well at centre half. Dec soon made it 3-0 with an instinctive shot that flew past the Whitworth keeper -a great finish that he seemed to take in one movement.
Whitworth had a couple of decent chances to score before half time but one was shot wide and the other a Tom save. 3-0 half time.
The second half st...
