Stalybridge Celtic Whites 1 v 0 AFC Clayton..... By Tim Kieran..............................
Another tough game today saw the whites edge this encounter with the only goal of the game scored by Archie, the goal coming after an Oscar throw-in found Robson who worked well down the flank and delivered a teasing cross across the six yard box , Archie had made a good run and slipped the ball past the Clayton keeper. Celtic had the majority of the chances on goal but take nothing away from the opposition who worked hard closing down and giving the Stalybridge boys no time on the ball, this showed with Celtic giving possession away with some rushed passes , to be fair it was the same for both teams as when Clayton had the ball Stalybridge did all they could do by closing them down and winning the ball back as well. There were some good individual efforts on goal, mainly volleys which were saved off the keeper or were put just wide, Callum and Robson with speculative effor...

Moston Juniors Reds 2 v 4 SCJFC Whites .......
A fantastic game today and a great advert for Junior Football saw the Celts go exactly one year unbeaten, the last time they lost a game was March 19th 2010 to Moston Jrs Blues 3-2..The team started brightly creating a chance in the first few seconds of the game. Moston are a very capable side though the Whites where having most of the possession. Against the run of play Moston took the lead which seem to stun the celts. A foul midway inside the Moston half game Niall a chance to have a go from distance, and what a free kick it was looping over the wall into the right hand top corner which was unstoppable and executed perfectly. The whites continued to dominate, though a mistake let Moston through to make it 2-1 at half time.
Second half the boys really went for it with some fantastic passing and moving and it wasn't long before Niall again scored, latching onto an Oscar Cross.
Oscar again became supplier with another great cross...

Chaddy End 2 v 5 SCJFC Blues..............By Alun Ireland......................
A much improved second half display put the game beyond Chaddy End as the Blues notched their second win on the spin.
The boys made a sluggish start – not pressurising the ball or the opposition – and struggled to put any passing moves together. But they were still unlucky to fall behind when Chaddy End scored direct from a corner.
The Blues’ heads rarely drop these das though, and they deserved their equaliser when Connor was first to react to a Daniel L shot.
The second half was mostly Blues pressure, although there were some worrying moments as Jack was left isolated at the back and Deacon was forced into at least three one on one saves.
The boys took the lead when Owen converted a cross from William, Connor notched his second – again with a William assist – but the best goal was when Adam played a perfect pass and William made no mistake slotting home i...

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 1 vs 1 Moston Jnr Blues....................By Tim Kieran...........................................
A well below par performance today from the boys played out a very scrappy game with Moston being easily the better of the two teams, Celtic played like strangers with stray passes and no understanding between the players which was out of character, for most of the game the ball was in the air or out of play which didn't make a good spectacle.
To be fair Moston gave the Celtic boys no time on the ball and deservingly Moston took the lead in the first half. The second half was slightly better from Stalybridge but they still found it difficult to string a couple of passes together, this showed today with Celtic resorting to playing long balls and chasing the game looking for an equaliser, the goal did arrive, finished by Oscar after good work from Dec. Celtic could have gone on and surprisingly won it with Dec hitting his effort onto the post. All in all...

SCJFC Blues 2 v 1 Boundary Park A .....................By Alun Ireland....................
The best performance for several weeks saw the Blues take all three
points against Boundary Park.
The boys got back to winning ways with this well deserved victory. The
margin could have been a lot more except for some fine saves by the opposition goalie.
Stalybridge started well, having a lot of possession without ever
really testing the keeper, Owen providing good width and Jack tight at
the back. William – as every week – caused their defence problems with his dribbling.
And it was Jack who came closest to opening the scoring when his shot from distance hit the bar. But the Blues switched off, and from the long goal kick they were two on one and made no mistake. The boys kept
their heads up though, and they did not deserve to be behind at the
break.
A half time change of kit brought a change of luck, and the boys
dominated the rest of the game.
A strong...

Stalybridge Celtic Blues 2 v 3 Failsworth West Lions ..............By Alun Ireland...................
Points dropped for the Blues as they had an inconsistent day on the pitch.
The boys played well in patches, but never really looked like beating
a Failsworth team that worked harder than them.
The Blues were unlucky to go behind when a speculative first half effort from distance found its way into the goal, but heads did not drop and the boys probably had their best spell following the setback.
A good tackle and break from Jack, finding Will in space who then squared the ball to Adam led to the Blues equaliser, Adam making no mistake with a strong finish.
But the Blues were back behind direct from the restart when the ball slipped under a defender’s foot on its way to the goal. The best move of the match brought a second equaliser with Daniel S playing a
great ball for Will, who ran half the length of the pitch before scoring.
The second half never really got going, w...

Failworth Dynamos Blues 1 v 1 SCJFC Whites
.......................Two weeks on the bounce these teams have met and Failsworth today had a game plan to stop the whites from playing.
The whites should have been two or three up in the first five minutes, though some good sames and the post helped keep Failsworth in the game. The whites were continually camped in their opponents half, though Failsworth were quick to close down space especially in front of goal, Eventually the deadlock was broken with a great effort from Callum to take the boys in 1-0 up at half time. Second half again the Celts have most of the posession, but credit the the Dynamos who were disciplined and kept the ball out as well the celts hitting the post and crossbar again. Although the Whites had at least 70% possesion a mistake let the Dynamos in to equalize with only a few minutes left. A draw in the end, but for the whites it felt like a loss to the players who at times were trying to walk th...

Failsworth Dynamoes 1 v 2 SCJFC Whites.........by Tim Kieran................
A scrappy game from the start found both teams struggling to string a couple of passes together. Failsworth starting slightly better than Celtic with the opponents doing well to close down the Celtic boys and giving them little time on the ball, which normally Stalybridge thrive on. Not long into the game and Celtic got caught out with too many players pushing up and leaving Joe a little exposed, Failsworth broke away and a tidy finish into the corner of the net found themselves one up.
Stalybridge seemed to shift up a couple of gears and started to play a bit of football and were rewarded with an equalizer only minutes after going behind, a well taken goal from Archie after receiving the ball via a great pass off Dec . Oscar and Dec were working well together interchanging passes, pushing Celtic forward looking to create an opening for the second goal.
Both teams were fighting hard to w...

Stalybridge Celtic Blues 1 v 1 Northside ............By Alun Ireland...............................
A much improved performance from the Blues saw them dominate for
periods against a strong Northside team.
The boys put some recent poor performances behind them to play some
excellent pass and move football, with strong tackling and good shape
making it difficult for their opponents.
At the start, Northside threatened first, but Deacon was equal to the
shot. Then the Blues took control, dominating the rest of the half but
unable to find the net. Deacon had little else to do.
The best move of the half came when Jack was strong at the back,
finding Owen who played a perfect ball along the touchline for Adam to
cross – Daniel L just unable to reach the ball to knock it home. But
Adam constantly found good positions, Conor was running midfield, and
Owen – who was excellent throughout - forced the keeper into a great
tip over the bar when he shot fr...

Boundary Park A 2 V 1Stalybridge Celtic Blues ...........By Allun Ireland.............
The Blues dropped points again against a lower placed team when they
were outplayed by Boundary Park.
The boys forgot what they had learned in training and too often found
themselves on the wrong side of their opponents.
The fact that both goalkeepers were joint men of the match says
everything you need to know about the game – a collective off day where
the goals against could easily have been trebled.
Boundary attacked from the kick off, with last ditch tackling by Daniel
S and brave keeping from Deacon keeping the score at 0-0. And it was
against the run of play when the Blues got to the edge of their
opponents box when William was fouled as he lined up a shot.
He made no mistake with the penalty, so the Blues led 1-0 at half time.
But they had used up all their luck with Deacon pulling off eight good
saves to keep his team in the contest.
