The u10s Whites got their pre season off to a great start after defeating Reddish Vulcans "A" in a penalty shootout final today. As last years runners up, today the boys went one better after topping their league in the group stage, then beating Reddish Vulcans B in the semi's on Penalties. In the final the celts were one up and looking to take the title on merit when Reddish were awarded a controversial penalty with seconds to go which took the final to penalties. The Whites had already lost a final on penalties this year at the Gadbrook cup, but this time the boys were victorious after dominating most of the possession in the close run final... Well done boys...

SCJFC U9s Whites made it 3 wins in 4 as they once again regained the Chaddy End Tournament Title. The boys previously won this event in 2008 as u6s and 2009 as u7s. Today they were again champions sweeping aside Dukinfield youth on their way to victory. The boys had a hard route too, coming 4th in their group they had to play Marple Athletic A in the quarter final and won in extra time, then Duky B in the semi's. With the whites doing the double over Dukinfield with a superb victory over their A team in the final...Well Done Boys!!

Stalybridge Celtic Blues 7 v 1 Middleton Colts ........By Alun Ireland......................... The Blues saved their best until last as they put seven past Middleton.  The whole team was outstanding as they enjoyed their final day at Failsworth. William opened the scoring when he coolly finished from a neat pass from Connor – a partnership that has worked well all season. And he doubled the lead soon afterwards when he chased Jack’s long ball from the back, again making no mistake with the finish. Owen scored the third from an almost impossible angle as the ball came over the topo of the keeper, before Colts found themselves with two against Jack and they managed to peg a goal back. But the second half was even more like one way traffic. William notched his hat-trick, before getting his fourth with the shot of the match – high into the top corner. Thomas was brought into a... SCJFC Whites 6 V 1 NORTHSIDE......BY Tim Kieran.....................   Celtic finished the league season on a high with a comfortable win, Stalybridge were in total control throughout the game, they were a pleasure to watch with outstanding goals on show also top quality slick passing and good movement, the distribution from Tom was top drawer and within a few passes Celtic were up at the edge of the opposing box firing goals in . Robson opened the account-a well taken header leaping above the defenders and directing the ball into the bottom corner from an Oscar corner.  Two minutes later another Oscar corner saw Joe make it 2-0, his shot from a tight angle saw the ball squirm under the keeper.   Celtic continued to play with quality, good passing, one touch football and plenty of movement and understanding, this was evident as Oscar nearly scored, a great first time shot, the ball heading for the top corner but somehow North sides keeper got a fingert... Failsworth Dynamos Whites 2 V 1 SCJFC Whites.............By Tim Kieran............... The Whites today suffered their first league defeat in 13 months.. Stalybridge never got going today, credit to Failsworth they were the better team on the day. Stalybridge went two goals behind and it knocked us, Celtic are not used to chasing the game, if we are to enter a stronger league next season we will have to be stronger, especially mentally, as these results will crop up more often. Dynamos goals were well taken, a strong header off a corner, though unmarked, and the second a free kick at the edge of the box into the top corner. Well done Joe, a well taken goal to get one back, and well done Tom, some great stops to keep the score down. Hopefully the quality will return to the team next week and get back to winning ways.   M.O.M. Tom .

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 4 v 0 Failsworth West..................By Tim Kieran.............................   Another good game this one, Celtic by far the better team , there  was  good understanding between the players, great passing , when the Celtic boys had the ball, each individual used the ball with intelligence, picking out passes or just laying the ball of easy and building moves with patience, great to watch, Dec particularly stood out, he was all over the pitch cleaning up and winning the second ball. This was the story throughout the game.   Niall nearly made it 1-0 only a great diving save from the West keeper kept it 0-0, however the opening goal soon arrived, a great strike with the laces from Robson 15 or so yards out left the keeper a spectator, the ball could only go in one place, the bottom corner and it duly did. The Celtic boys kept on peppering the opposition goal and only good saves was keeping the score down. 1-0 &n... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Celtic Blues 1v 3 Moston Valley ............By Alun Ireland........................................ The Blues played better than recent weeks but could not snatch the win they probably deserved against a physical Moston Valley side. The Boys played at a higher tempo, and passed well throughout the first half where they were unlucky not to score more than once. After a positive start, the Blues went ahead after Adam hit home following a goalmouth scramble. The boys continued to pass the ball around, and it was against the run of play when Moston found themselves with a man over in attack, who hit the target from six yards. From half time though, instead of kicking on and making their skills count, the Blues slipped back into lazier ways. Only some brave defending from Daniel S and Connor kept them in the tie. But goalkeeper Thomas could do nothing about a fine strike from the right that went in the top corner to put Moston 2-1 up, before a third goal sea... Read the rest of this article...

Moston Brook 1 v 6 SCJFC Whites..............By Tim Kieran............ Celtic were back to their best in this exciting game with both teams going hammer and tongue to come out on top, there was some excellent football being played by both teams.    Celtic got off to a dream start going one up as early as the second minute, a great through ball from Oscar picked out Callum who duly finished into the far corner of the net, a few minutes later Oscar supplied Callum again, this time a neat lob over the Moston keeper saw the ball nestle into the goal for Callums second. Moston should have pulled one back, a one on one situation saw Tom pull out a great save . Celtic grew more confident and were passing the ball round well, this passage of play was evident as Callum notched up his hat-trick Celtic going three up. It was soon 4 nil, Oscar the provider again, good vision and a perfect pass found Robson at the edge of the box, one touch and then an instinctive finish into the cor... Boundary Park Juniors A 4 V 0 SCJFC Blues..........By Alun Ireland.................... The Blues’ poor run of form continued when they were second best to a well organised and hard working Boundary Park team. Levels of effort were low, so that when the Blues did not have the ball they were constantly under pressure. The pattern followed last week’s draw, where the boys struggled to put passing moves together to keep possession, while failing to pressure the space once they lost the ball. Stalybridge were unfortunate to fall behind just before the break when a free kick deflected past Thomas in goal, while the boys were down to five players with Adam having his laces tied off the pitch. The referee allowed the goal to stand and the Blues almost equalised straight away, Owen finding space to shoot from the right, then Connor heading William’ s corner onto the bar. At 1-0 the boys were still in it and started the second half brightly, bu... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Celtic Blues 2 v 2 Whitworth Park ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,By Alun Ireland...................... The Blues used a huge slice of their luck for the season to escape with a draw against an attacking Whitworth Park team. The boys were second best in every department, forgetting their last training sessions based on closing down space and passing and moving. They quickly went two goals down in the first half as they allowed Whitworth Park to win every ball and then failed to cover in defence. There was nothing Deacon could have done with either goal as both shots were cleanly hit from the edge of the box and fired high into the net. Two-nil flattered the Blues at half time, it could – and should – have been many more, only Deacon in goal and a brilliant goal line clearance from Adam saving their embarrassment. In the second half, Stalybridge at least fought back and showed spirit, creating a few chances but still often allowing two or three opposition pl... Read the rest of this article...
