AVRO 2 v 1 SCJFC Blues....By Alun Ireland... Connor was on the scoresheet in the first minute, and the Blues spent the early stages on top with Callum, James and Connor coming close. But they allowed AVRO back into the game as they stopped passing and moving, and instead played as individuals. Tome kept the scores level with a great tip over the bar just before half time, but the Blues were losing momentum. The second half was nearly all AVRO. Brandon was unlucky to put a shot wide, but at the other end Tom was again forced to save, Daniel S headed a cross off the line and it was only a matter of time before pressure told. A long distance free kick looped into the net to make it 1-1, but the Blues came back with Tyler and Callum coming close. Finally a scrappy goal gifted AVRO the lead, which they held on to in a scrappy finish. Owen was man of the match for his bravery and work rate, but this was at least one point lost.  AVRO 1 v 2 SCJ... Read the rest of this article...

Reddish Vulcans B 2 v 1 SCJFC Blues..........By Rob Dolan......................  This week the team played Reddish Vulcans who are joint top of the league and unbeaten so far this season. In the early part of the game, Tyler had three efforts on goal and was unfortunate not to score. Meanwhile, at the other end, Owen made some brave tackles to keep the Vulcans at bay and Thomas made a number of saves to keep the score at 0-0. It was a great team effort with all players giving 100%. The Blues were unlucky not to score when Daniel L headed well from a Connor throw in. Unfortunately, the Vulcans then scored with seconds to go before half time and then made it 2-0 early in the second half. The Blues then replied with a well deserved goal, Connor took another great throw in, Tyler headed on and James smashed the ball home to make it 2-1. James and Dan L both had further efforts on goal and Thomas made another great save to keep the Blues in the game. The whole team deserve credit for ... Read the rest of this article...

Hough End 4 v 5 Stalybridge Celtic............By Rob Dolan................ The boys again met tough opposition in Hough End in this Cup game where the scores from both games are added  together with the  team having the highest aggregate score progressing through to the next round.  The Blues played first and started brightly with good shots from Callum and Robson.  At the other end Owen and Jack I were doing some great defensive work to keep Hough End at bay.  It was pleasing to see some good passing as the boys put what they had been learning at training in to practise.  Archie, Niall and Robson had been combining well and eventually a ball came in from the left which Callum swiftly placed in to the back of the net.  James was working hard down the left wing, he set up Niall with a shot that went just wide and then took a great corner which Robson leaped to meet but unfortunately, it just missed the target.  The second half started... We have two match reports this week.. Hough End Griffins 3 v 3 SCJFC Blues.....By Rob Dolan....... The Blues met tough opposition today in Hough End Griffins in this tightly fought contest. Will opened the scoring for the Blues after only two minutes following good pressure from Callum. Minutes later, Callum pounced on an error from a Hough End defender and thundered the ball home to make it two nil. Griffins started to come back in to the game and their number eight hit a tremendous shot which left Deacon with no chance. Just before half time, Hough End scored two more, one on the break and one from a corner. In both halfs, Deacon made a number of good saves to keep the Blues in the game . In the second half, Archie set up Will who hit a good shot which was saved by the keeper. Archie continued to cause problems for the opponents and following some good build up play between him and Daniel L, Archie slotted the ball home to make it three all. Both sides had chances to win ... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Celtic 18, Medlock Rangers 1.....By Alun Ireland....... Stalybridge Celtic Blues 8, Medlock Rangers 0 The boys found their passing and shooting boots today as they swept aside their lower league opponents. The Blues were on top from the opening minute when Will and Niall both had shots saved, and it was only a matter of time before they took the lead – Niall’s shot finding the corner of the net. Callum doubled the lead when Archie played the perfect through ball for him on the edge of the box, and he hammered the ball home. It could easily have been more before half time with Callum hitting a drive over the bar and Archie hitting the outside of the post. The second half was one way traffic. Daniel crossed for Connor at the back post to make it three, and William then battled through the middle before passing to Connor for his second. The Medlock keeper pulled off two good saves, before Connor and Will combined for the best goal ... Read the rest of this article...

Glossop NE JFC 2 Stalybridge Celtic Blues 0........By Alun Ireland..... The Blues worked hard without ever really getting their passing together, losing to a tough Glossop side. The boys started well, with Tyler having a shot blocked in the first five minutes from William’s run, but a lack of communication at the back then saw the Blues concede a sloppy own goal. With four Celtic players in their own box, and not a single attacker, the ball bobbled into the net. Minutes later, a Glossop corner bounced off the bar and then Thomas’s hand, but the defence again missed their marking and Glossop had a freeshot to double their lead. The rest of the half was scrappy without much passing and movement, but the boys were still unlucky to be two down when they had limited Glossop to just one shot. The Blues made a livelier start to the second half, with Brandon and Tyler both causing problems. When a Glossop defender handled the ball on the edge of ... Read the rest of this article...

SCJFC Blues 2 v 1 Dukinfield Youth. After last weeks defeat the boys were looking to improve on last weeks performance. From the Start the boys were under pressure but continued to work hard with both Jack C and Jack I defending well as Duky looked dangerous with some good attacks. But on ten minutes it was Callum who latched onto a through ball and stuck a sweet left footed ball into the Duky net. Again the boys had to weather some fierce Duky attacks and lead at half time. Second half the boys started to play more as a team, though Duky went close hitting the crossbar, though they eventually equalized with their striker pick up a loose parry. But this made the boys shift up a gear as they started to knock the ball about and a fantastic run from Tyler latching on to a great through ball and dinking the ball over the diving keeper into the net. There were a frantic last few minutes but the boys finished strong with both Jack's being M.O.M. SCJFC Whites 0 V 3 Dukinfield Youth. The W... Read the rest of this article...

Today was the start of a new season and it was a last minute change of venue by the league to Astley Sports College that added to Celtic's woes today against Curzon Ashton The grass on the pitch was very long and this really stopped the boys playing the ball on the floor the wayst  we are used to playing. Curzon B 6 v 4 SCJFC Blues The Blues went behind very early as Curzon started the game at a quicker pace. A few moments later the boys were 2 down, however we were playing some great stuff and it was the long grass stopping playing which stopped us from keeping the ball down, Midway through the first half Callum was on target with a superb goal and again moments later we were level, again from a great Callum effort, and were looking like scoring a hatful, before half time Dan S latched onto an Archie cross to put the blues 3-2 up at the break. again the blues look the better side but against the run of play Curzon equalized. A few defensive switch offs and a ... Read the rest of this article...
