14th August 2010 - Stalybridge Celtic U9s helped kick off the Season for the Stalybridge First Team at Bower fold with a friendly game against West End Boys Club. The First team were playing Redditch and the u9s provided the perfect curtain raiser with a fantastically battled game. It was Celtic providing most of the pressure, though against the run of play West End took the lead with a long reach effort that looped over Thomas into the net. The Celts continued to pressure West End with Callum hitting the post. However it was West End who furthered their lead with a well struck free kick. The Celts continued with a true fighting spirit and got a goal back from a great run from Oscar who crossed to William who made no mistake.. Half Time 1-2. Second half saw West End further their lead practically right from the kick off. A long ball in left Joe and Thomas in goal both leaving it for one another with a West End pouncing to score. The Celts continued to battle and p...

SCJFC WHITES 7 V 1 BOUNDARY PARK B The Whites secured their 2nd league title in a row yesterday with an emphatic win over a tough Boundary Park team. The boys started brightly with every boy wanting to get the teams 150th goal of the season. This was causing the boys to shoot on sight with no major threat to Boundary. Joe got the 150th goal after 7 minutes and this kick-started the boys into cruise control. Robson adding moments later to ease any worries. Now the boys started to move the ball around with great effect. The set plays are a real strength and it wasn't long before Robson scored again. Chance after chance kept coming and Jack in goal was looking like he was never going to even touch the ball today. Declan adding again put the Whites 4-0 up. The boys were really knocking the ball about and carving out so many chances with Robson getting his hat trick and the whites 5th before half time. Second half saw Boundary start to pile on some pressure however they never reall...

AFC CLAYTON 2 v 0 SCJFC BLUES By Peter Roberts The Blues put on a very encouraging display against one of the very best teams in the league. The peformance was was a fitting tribute to the departing coach Stuart Davenport, who has done so much to help the development of the boys at the club and will be sorely missed. The first half was a barnstorming affair, with both teams playing progressive, attacking football and creating chances, whilst the defenders played as if their lives depended on it. What was also really pleasing was the high standard of the football on display. It was 0-0 at half time but that doesn't do justice to how enjoyable and entertaining it had been. In truth, the Blues performance in the second half wasn't as good as it was in the first, but it was still impressive and the boys could easily have scored at least one goal. Unfortunately the quality in the Clayton team event...

FAILSWORTH DYNAMO'S B 0 V 4 SCJFC WHITES A great display of commitment today against a tough well organised Failsworth Dynamos. The boys started well and were creating many chances with Failsworth going for the physical approach, though it was Celtic who took the lead from a well taken effort from Declan. The boys continued to add the pressure when a cross was headed into his own net from one of Failsworths players for two nil. Robson wrapped up the first half to make it 0-3. Failsworth second half continued to try the physical side to unerve the whites and Jack had to pull off a few superb saves to keep the sheet clean. Another wave of attacks from Celtic had Robson on the scoresheet again to secure the win. With one game left the boys have really done themselves proud and need one more goal in the league's final game to hit the 150 goals scored mark.. M.O.M Declan A real engine today covering every part of the pitch and never giving up. Well done. P...

Moston Valley 2 v 4 SCJFC Blues By Peter Roberts The Blues put in a very competitive performance today as they continued their return to form in the Failsworth sunshine. Well done to the boys, they have really responded to their coaches' words and looked much more like the team that started the season so well and have given some of the best teams in the area a tough time over the course of the season. The game started scappily but was brought to life by the back to form Adam, who rifled home a stunning drive from a great ball by Archie to make it 1-0. It was great to see the hammer back in action. At this point the Moston boys began to dominate the game and great defending by Jack and some fine saves by Thomas kept the Blues in the game. However an equaliser came, from a stunning...

SCJFC Blues 3 v 1 Moston Juniors Reds By Peter Roberts What a difference a week makes! After a below par performance last week, the Blues responded in the best way possible, with a win and a great display against a strong Moston outfit. If the Blues can perform like this over the next few weeks, there is no reason why they can't end the season positively and make an impression in the forthcoming tournaments. The first half was hard fought and even, with the Blues standing toe to toe with tough opponents. Archie and Will were at the heart of the best attacking moments, whilst Conor and Jack continued their great partnership at the back. The ever reliable Daniel made his presence felt in both defence and attack, he has had a good season, even when things haven't gone well for the team. Before the break disaster struck when the boys switched off and the Moston Reds took the lead from a corner. Defending corners is a l...

SCJFC WHITES 6 V 1 NORTHSIDE Another strong performance from the Celts today against a strong Northside. The boys were up for it from the start and had numerous chances, with Oscar's deflected strike putting the boys on their way. Again the play from the Celts was superb. The second goal came from a shot that the keeper saved and the ball stayed on the line. A cheeky dive from Declan nodded the ball over the line for 2-0. The boys continued to dominate and some superb saves from the Northside keeper kept the scoreline down, though Robson made it 3-0 with a run and unstoppable shot from the edge of box. Second half the boys again looked strong with superb passing and moving allowed Robson to score another to make it 4. Northside did get back into the game forcing a reaction save from Jack which he dealt with superbly. The boys were a joy to watch knocking the ball about and really looking the part, Northside then got one back with a th...

PRO SPORT STRIKERS 0 V 5 SCJFC WHITES A magificent game to watch for any neutral saw the Celts test the opposition keeper twice in the first 30 seconds. For the first 5 minutes the boys created at least 10 chances which were either expertly saved or wide of the mark. Declan scored the first halfway through the first half after another great Celtic move. Although the boys completely dominated it stayed 1-0 till half time. Second half saw the boys score within seconds of the kick off, a sweet cross from Niall saw Daniel pounce to double the lead. The boys then moved out of first gear to second where they stayed for the majority of the game. Today saw some fantastic passing and moving which was superb to watch., just like watching Brazil! A further goal from Daniel eased any pressure while Jack in goal could of nipped out for a haircut if he wanted to as today he was mostly a spectator as the ball rarely went into the white's half, and when it did is was usually a backpass to Jo...
