Blues 3-1 Reddish MOM William Frankish, William H A relatively straight forward win for the Blues who have played better this season and lost. They were a few decent chances created in the first half, William F shooting just over from a cross from William H, William H then had a free-kick just pass the post. The opener came when Jay run down the right and shot to the far post, it looked like it was going in but Robbie made sure. The second shortly followed when William H had a shot saved by the keeper and Robbie again was on hand to tap in. Reddish pulled one back in the second half from a corner which was badly defended by the boys. The third and last goal came from a set play that had shown promise throughout the match where William F corner to the back post found William H, where previously Will H had half-volleyed it, this time he headed it in.  Whites: 2-2 Draw MOM – Lewis Ellis & Joe Titterington   I’m sure whoever witn... Blues 2-0 Mossley Goalscorers: Jack Forrester, Jay Riley MOM: Jay Riley The first half was a bit slow and not that much to report on which may have been a result of the warm weather of the fact the boys hadn't had a competitive match in  a few weeks. Stalybridge controlled the first half without really looking threatening and as a result game was tied at 0-0 at half time. The second half was a different story with the boys looking more determined to get that win and push them back up the table. The opener was a delight to watch, Will H took a throw in on the left to Jay who flicked it over the head of not one but 2 Mossley players before finishing. The second goal followed quickly after with Will H running down the left before crossing to Jack who scored at the second attempt. The boys were in control now and the best move of the match was to follow, Will F hit a pass from one side of the pitch to the other to find Will H who in t... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Whites vs. Glossop Juniors 23-02-12 Whites Result: 4-2 Win MOM – Joe Brown & Joe Titterington   It was back to winning ways for the Whites this week with a well deserved 4-2 victory against Glossop.   Good attacking play from the team enabled Tony to find space inside the opposition’s penalty area, Tony then found the bottom corner with a great strike!   1-0   With the team brimming with confidence more goals were sure to follow. After Olivia broke up a Glossop attack with a well timed tackle she found Joe Brown with a pass. Joe B then worked hard on the right wing twisting & turning past 2 Glossop defenders giving him time & space to lift his head & find Lewis Ellis with a low cross, Lewis then reacted quickly to score our second of the game. 2-0   We seemed to take our foot off the gas a bit after the second goal went in & Glossop got back into the game with a ... Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Whites vs. AFC Stanley 16-02-13 Whites 0-1 AFC Stanley MOM – Thomas Reynolds   It wasn’t to be in this match although we controlled it, we were wasteful in front of goal. Our attack-minded players couldn’t convert the chances they were provided with.   We conceded a shot through a crowd of players which Joe T didn’t see until late and although he reacted really well he slipped and the ball crept over the line.   Positives from the game – Joe T great goal kicks & good team play through defence & midfield.   Negatives from the game – Passing in final third & finishing. Blues 1-0 AFC Stanley M.O.M: Connor Goalscorer: William H  A thoroughly enjoyable game that got the boys back to winning ways with a hard thought but well deserved win. The first half was evenly contested with AFC creating the better chances only to come up against an... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Whites vs. TSC United   Result: 1-0 Loss MOM – Ruari   The performance from the Whites in this game was definitely better than the result shows! The Whites had the lion’s share of possession, they kept the ball down & moved it forward quickly & although we conceded the team defended well.   It just wasn’t to be our day in front of goal. No matter how hard the team tried they just couldn’t find the back of the net! Full credit should go to TSC’s goalie as he pulled off some terrific saves. Stalybridge Celtic Blues 0-4 TSC United The poor start to life in the second division continued on Saturday, which is difficult to take as the boys have been playing reasonably well in the midweek firendies but not been able to take that form to the Saturday matches. The scoreline doesn't give a true reflection of the game as the boys for long parts battled well against TSC... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Blues 2-2 Platt Lane The boys first competitive game for over a a month and it showed particularly in the first half. The boys had a couple of chances to take the lead, first though Fynn who shot wide after a nice pass from  Harvey and then a long range effort from William H which went just past. As often has been the case with our boys they don’t make possession pay and ultimately pay the price, which is what happened here. Platt lane opened the scoring which nice fluent passing move, this was quickly followed up with a second to give them a 2-0 lead at half time. The boys were told at half time that more effort was required from them, with only Jamie and William H really showing anything close to 100% in the first half. I am pleased to say the full team turned up for the second half and the boys got their just rewards, the first goal came from a good long range effort which Jack scored. William H then hot a volley which was nicely saved by the keeper and the... Read the rest of this article...

Semi Final of the FA Primary Cup Stalybridge Celtic 2 v 0 Dukinfield Youth - 01/12/12 "12 months ago I had a dream, and set the team a benchmark for progression. On Saturday that dream was realised and the benchmark thoroughly out thought and outplayed" Well done to everyone, new targets have now been set, and lets continue the positive progression for the rest of the season"- Chris Frankish Stalybridge Celtic (Blue) 0-0 Dukinfield Youth - By Billy Hughes MOM: William Frankish The scoreline doesn't actually tell the story of this game. The blues dominated this game from start to finish and restricted Duki to only a few chances. Improvements that have been evident in the last few weeks continued with the Blues passing the ball about neatly at time and creating several openings. Jay and Will F both tried their luck from distance with good shots only to have seen them both saved by an impressive Duki keeper. Hard work and team play is what has seen the...
