STALYBRIDGE CELTIC BLUES ‘3’- FAILWSORTH DYNAMO BLUES ‘2’ By Alan Davies
Celtic kept up their good level of performance to just ease past Dynamos to stay top of the league. A good first half saw Celtic open the scoring with Callum Dawson again showing what a good left foot he has. The play was fairly even as Dynamos showed what a strong side they are. Nathan and Cameron had to be aware at the back but it was Callum Dawson who made it 2-0 and Celtic looked comfortable. However just before half time Dynamos pulled one back. It was early in the second half and Dynamos were showing signs of coming back into the game. This they did and levelled the score at 2-2 with a low shot into the corner. Celtic new they had a game on and the play was more in their half. Fortunately a shot across the box was finished off by Ryan to put Celtic 3-2 up. Dynamos nearly scored in the last few minutes but a couple of good saves from Mathew and good defending by Marcus a...

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 4-1 West End Wasps By Phil Read
The Whites were not their usual selves this week and were slow to get going against a lively start by the opposition. Straight from the kick off the Wasps took a shot which hit the crossbar. Alex and Nic had to be alert in defence, and Luke provided a good outlet on the right wing. The first half then evolved in to a midfield battle with the only notable chances being a header from Callum that hit the post and another chance to the Wasps that was matched by a fine save from Josh. However, the Whites eventually showed signs of settling down and before half time Shay got his head to a cross from Jack to put the Whites 1:0 up. The Whites started the second half brightly and despite one scare early on pressed on and were soon 2:0 up with a fine free kick by Rhys. He was also unlucky moments later with floated shot clipping the wrong side of the cross bar. Sam on at half time, had to be versatile playin...

STALYBRIDGE CELTIC BLUES ‘3’ – MIDWAY ‘1’ By Alan Davies
The Blues got revenge on Midway after they defeated them in the first half of the season. The Blues came out strong and dominated play from kick off. Nathan and Cameron started at the back and did not let Midway have any chances. It was Callum Dawson who opened the scoring with a sweet left foot strike after Celtic had kept the pressure on Midway. Once Celtic had scored it did not take long for Lewis to get free and score the second and soon after the third. Celtic went in 3-0 at half time with all players contributing well to a team effort. Midway came back into the game in the second half and made Celtic work hard. Celtic came close to increasing their lead however it was a long range shot that gave Midway a consolation goal late on. Stalybridge Celtic Whites 5-2 Failsworth West Tigers By Phil Read..
In blustery weather conditions the Whites continued their winning streak in a hard fought game against a tough Tigers team. Whist the wind made it difficult for the lads to maintain their normal flowing football they were soon creating opportunities to score, so it was no surprise when Shay put the Whites 1:0 up, only for the Tigers to equalise against the run of play. However, with a brace of goals from Rhys they managed to take a 3:1 lead in to the half time break.
Soon after half time the Tigers looked like they were going to make a game of it by pulling a goal back but this only served to bring the Whites back in to life. Midway through the half the ball fell to Callum who from distance hit a thunderbolt in to the top corner. Before the game finished the Whites managed to score a fine team goal when Josh caught a ball and rolled it out wide to Alex who neatly played it down the line to Rhys. He beat t...

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 4-1 Failsworth West Lions By Phil Read
The whites got off to a bright start with plenty of possession and soon found themselves 1.0 up with a goal from Jack. Soon after Sam was unlucky not to extend the lead when his shot was headed over the bar by a defender.
Alex and jack were also lively down the wing which helped stretch the opposition midfield. With the space in the middle a through ball was played to Luke and whilst his initial shot was saved Sam was able to pounce to score the second. Unfortunately, the level of possession made the team a little complacent and despite some good work from Nic and saves from Josh the Lions managed to pull a goal back before half time. The Whites started the second with the defence looking a lot stronger and were soon back to commanding the game. Alex picked the ball up from a clearance and fired in a fierce shot from distance to extend the lead. For the rest of the half the Whites continued to command the game and it ...

STALYBRIDGE CELTIC BLUES ‘5’ – FAILSWORTH VILLA BLUES ‘0’ By Alan Davies
After a few weeks off it did not take the Celtic long to establish a hold on the game and cause the Failsworth defence problems. Jordan was always a threat with both Callum’s going close early on. However it was Marcus who opened the scoring latching onto a loose ball and firing it into the back of the net. Up to this stage the Failsworth keeper had done well. The teams went in 1-0 at half time but it should have been more. The second half saw Celtic pressing forward and it was not long before Jordan scored a goal with a neat finish at the near post from a looping cross. From this it was Celtic all the way with Callum Rawson poaching a goal from a foot out and Lewis picking up two at the far post unmarked. Failsworth broke through but a fine diving save from Mathew saw Celtic register a convincing win and move to the top of the table. ...

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 2-0 Failsworth Villa Clarets By Phil Read
Back from the Christmas break and the Whites got off to a good start with plenty of early pressure with Luke lively up front. Callum managed to make the pressure tell grabbing an early goal to put the Whites 1:0 up.
Following the goal Jack and Callum managed to get decent shots in but only to be matched by the keeper and Callum then hit the crossbar. Despite all the pressure the Whites were unable extend their lead before half time. The second half continued with Rhys and Nic applying the pressure down the flanks and soon after found themselves 2:0 up with Rhys picking up on a loose ball from a Callum shot and calmly finding the back of the net. With Sam commanding the defence the only real pressure from the opposition was shots from distance which Josh was able to deal with ease albeit the team struggled to extend their lead any further. STALYBRIDGE CELTIC BLUES ‘1’ – BROADWAY CELTIC ‘1’ By Alan Davies
The Blues will still be wondering why this was not three points at the start of the second half of the season. After Broadway took an early lead The Blues dominated the game and without a fine display from Celtics No.6. they would have probably won quite comfortably. However it was very frustrating and even more so when a super strike from Lewis was ruled out when advantage could have been given. It was Jordan who scored the goal with a good turn and finish. The blues should not be to disappointed as their play was very impressive and will probably win other games not playing as well. Man of the Match Cameron

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 7-0 East Levenshulme By Phil Read
Whites were off to a flyer in the game with plenty of possession and an early goal from Sam and a couple of near misses from Luke. Soon after there was a quick fire hat trick from Rhys, the first the best of them with a shot from distance having be found with a pinpoint pass from Nic on the opposite wing. Despite plenty of possession the scoreline remained the same until half time. In the second half it was much of the same from the start with plenty of possession albeit they lost their shape a little and with it the passing. They gradually pulled it back together and midway through the half went 5-0 up when Jack's shot found the back of the net via a deflection off the defender. The 6th goal came shortly after with Shay playing a nice one-two with Sam and then slotting it down the side of the keeper before Sam completing the scoring and the game finished 7-0 to the Whites.

2nd ROUND CUP
STALYBRIDGE CELTIC BLUES ‘0’ – FAILSWORTH DYNAMO A ‘4’ By Alan Davies
Celtic should not be disappointed with the loosing today. Failsworth were a good side and a division higher. The first half was tight with Celtic defending well as Failsworth pressed forward. Celtic tried to hit on the break but could not quite get the telling pass. Failsworth scored just before the break with a neat finish that Mat had little chance with. The second half saw Failsworth gain in confidence and scored a further three. The score did not reflect Celtic’s hard work across the whole team and they can now take this form into the next league game. Man of the Match. Callum Dawson
