SCORE : 5-0 GOALS : REECE (x2), LUKE (x3) MOM : LEWIS (chosen by Chaddy End Manager) MEDALS : SAM (for most passes) and LUKE (for his two assists) Another game of domination, goals and excellent team work! The starting line up for the Whites this week was Lewis in goal, Sam in defence, Fin and Adam in midfield and Luke and Reece up front. Wes was sub. Straight away the action started for the Whites and they certainly listened to the Managers' advice that this was a tough team to beat and to go out and do their stuff. After only a few seconds Adam took a throw in to Fin who battled for the ball together with Sam but Chaddy End won the fight and shot at goal which Lewis successfully saved. After this shot on goal the lads knuckled down and for the rest of the half were in control of possession. Lewis continued the play by kicking the ball down field to Adam who passed to Luke who was about to take shot at goal when was tackled and the ball went out of play for a corner. Fin sho... 14th January 2012 Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 1 – 0 Failsworth Villa by Andy Walker... Goal: Josh MoM: Jack As ever, the match kicked off a good half an hour late; it would actually be more newsworthy if it kicked off on time but I mention this as the extra time Chris had with the team beforehand paid obvious dividends once the match got underway. It has become apparent that whilst the team has talent in abundance they have often all been guilty of being somewhat reluctant to actually try to pass to each other when a slalom through three opposition players is an alternative. The penny finally seemed to drop today and the passing was a massive improvement (I suspect the promise of a giant bar of chocolate for the best passing helped in that respect). The Blues, who were without Matthew, came out of the traps like a steam train with great tackles from Joe and Fin leading to a couple of chances early on with CJ being particularly unlucky with one shot. Joe pe... Read the rest of this article...

Goals : Luke (x4), Adam (x2), Fin MOM: Fin (chosen by Santos Manager) Medals for passing: Sam and Adam Wow, what a game!  The White Warriors strike again (7 times).  What a fantastic show of great passing, great free kicks, great defending and just great football. The new rotation system worked a treat with first out, Lewis and Matty at the rear, Fin and Adam mid and Reece and Wes up front. The early action was all our way but the net was proving difficult to find as both Reece (who tried really hard to score but was just unlucky), Adam, Wes and Fin all attempted stunning shots but to our frustration the goals were shy !!!! A good early save by Lewis prevented us going 1-0 down and, after some shoe lace excitement (Fin), a determined tackle on the goalie by Reece, a succession of corners and some heavy duty tackles by Matty our first goal came from our second or maybe third free kick through the Santos wall neatly and with great ease into the net by Fin.  1-0 Gre... Score: 2-0 Goals: Luke and Wes Man of the Match (chosen by Moston Manager): Adam New Year, New Rotation System and definitely boots with go faster stripes (from Santa no doubt).  What a speedy game!  It felt more like an evening at the dog races or have the parents bought remote control boots ha ha!!!!  Maybe it was the turkey and trimmings or the Whites were all loaded and popping with several tonnes of chocolate but something made them explode! This game could have had the score line 20-0.  We had chance after chance at the Christmas stocking but hey we were all proud and pleased with 2-0. A truly deserved win. The new rotation system found Lewis in pegs, Sam on guard, Fin and Adam in the midst and up front Wes and Luke.  Early action between Luke and Fin lead to corners and goal mouth scrambles in between some midfield battles and then here it came a fantastic pass from Adam to Luke, who was nestled nicely right in front of the pegs, who neatly s... Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 0 – 5 Moston Tigers MoM: Joe Ouch!!!   That hurt more than a New Years hangover and there was definitely a bit of a hangover feel about the Blues today.  The freezing conditions with a howling wind did not help but this is not an excuse as they were the same for both teams and as far as I could hear it was only us parents moaning about the weather! (My fingers were particularly numb trying to make notes for this!!) The first half started particularly brightly with a good passing move; Showing great vision, Matthew played a simple ball inside to Josh who played it first time wide into space for Joe to surge in on goal but his shot went just wide. The first half way real end to end stuff and Thomas tipped speculative shot round the post. Josh, Jack, Joe and Matthew put in a series of strong tackles high up the pitch and another powerful surging run from Joe resulted in a good save from their keeper. Matthew performed a brilliant... We score four goals and they scored two and we still didn’t get a win!!! Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 2 - 4 Moston Junior's 10th December 2011 Goals: Jack x 2 MOM: Jacob Things were looking good immediately after kick off when CJ put a low, fast ball through to Jack in the Moston goal area, it was an unfortunate deflection off a defender spared Moston’s blushes. Five minutes in and Moston were on the attack, they pushed forward down the right wing and fired a cross through our packed goal area. Several feet were thrown out in an effort to push the ball wide but it was young CJ Boaler who managed to stick the ball in the back of his own net (had it been at the other end he’d have been up for goal of the match but that wasn’t the case). CJ and Holly put in a really solid performance and worked hard to keep the Moston forwards at bay, Holly with her “never say die attitude” and CJ with his “terrier spirit” were watertight unt... Score: 2 - 1 Goals: Sam and Luke MOM: Fin (chosen by Midway Manager) Our winning White Warriors pulled it out of the bag again! A different starting line up this week saw Reece and Wes up front, Adam and Sam midfield and, with no change at the back, Lewis in goal and Matty in defence. Good early pressure by Celtic saw some exciting goal mouth scrambles with Adam having first attempt at goal picked up by, what was to become, a very busy Midway keeper, another shot at goal from Reece followed shortly after. A tap up from Mattty to Sam who then created the pass of the match to Reece who unluckily found the ball at his left foot - had it been his right foot, well we will never know!!! Great play in the first half saw a 0-0 score line, just to summarise we put the pressure on in scenes reminiscent of The Alamo with Wes and Adam contributing to the high tempo play by giving the Midway players no time to rest on the ball, but we just could not finish. The second half started with Fin a... Read the rest of this article...

Another tough game, another display of great sportsmanship and character…       Goals: Joe MOM: Holly A shaky start by the Blues which allowed Chaddy End to drive into our goal area, their shot wasn’t particularly well struck but it bobbled in front of Thomas making it impossible for him to stop. Matthew put in two screaming runs cutting through the defense and was only denied by the skills of the Chaddy End keeper. On the odd occasion where the ball found its way into our half, the thunderous right boot of Jacob sent it spinning back over the halfway line or out of play to safety, Jacob’s maturity and smart play keep impressing the observers and denying our opponents week after week. Once we found our stride it didn’t take long for us to draw even. A huge throw from CJ landed the ball with our latest signing Fin R in midfield, Fin passed a neat through-ball to Joe who swiftly returned it to Fin who was still on the move towards their ... What a match, not smattered with goals but a focused effort by every player and some amazing passing to boot! Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 1 - 1 Boundary Park A Goals: Joe MOM: Josh We might have got the curse of the Whites!!! A month or so ago the Whites were doing everything they could, passing, shooting, tackling, running, talking to one another EVERYTHING just not getting the goals they deserved! This match was fine example of exactly that. Thankfully the Whites have turned a corner and all their hard work is now paying off. They’re winning tough games against hard teams and with plenty of goals to show for it!!! But for now, the Blues don’t seem to have luck on their side. The match played out in a similar way to last weeks with one fundamental difference… PASSING! Each and every player made accurate and direct passes. The standout run of passes came when Thomas released the ball to Holly on the wing,  she turned and skipped past one pla... Read the rest of this article...

Final Score:  3-0 Goals: Sam, Fin, Reece MOM: Reece Game started with the strong line up of Luke and Reece up front, Fin and Sam in midfield, Matty in defence and Lewis in goal.   Kick off found Failsworth straight on the attack which resulted in them getting an early corner but this was blocked by Fin and a battle ensued between their forwards and our defence which resulted in Matty clearing it to Sam who got it down to the Celtic end but unfortunately went out of play.  The Failsworth goalkeeper kicked it out and we found ourselves with a corner.  Fin sent it into the box but there was no one unfortunately in the box to receive it and the ball was kicked out of play by Sam.  The Failsworth goalkeeper's kick out resulted again in their team kicking the ball out of play and we got a throw in.  The ball was thrown in to Luke who had a shot on goal but shot went wide.  Play commenced and Fin was fouled.  Free k...
