What a match, not smattered with goals but a focused effort by every player and some amazing passing to boot!
Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 1 - 1 Boundary Park A
Goals: Joe
MOM: Josh
We might have got the curse of the Whites!!! A month or so ago the Whites were doing everything they could, passing, shooting, tackling, running, talking to one another EVERYTHING just not getting the goals they deserved! This match was fine example of exactly that. Thankfully the Whites have turned a corner and all their hard work is now paying off. They’re winning tough games against hard teams and with plenty of goals to show for it!!! But for now, the Blues don’t seem to have luck on their side.
The match played out in a similar way to last weeks with one fundamental difference… PASSING! Each and every player made accurate and direct passes. The standout run of passes came when Thomas released the ball to Holly on the wing, she turned and skipped past one pla...

Final Score: 3-0
Goals: Sam, Fin, Reece
MOM: Reece
Game started with the strong line up of Luke and Reece up front, Fin and Sam in midfield, Matty in defence and Lewis in goal.
Kick off found Failsworth straight on the attack which resulted in them getting an early corner but this was blocked by Fin and a battle ensued between their forwards and our defence which resulted in Matty clearing it to Sam who got it down to the Celtic end but unfortunately went out of play. The Failsworth goalkeeper kicked it out and we found ourselves with a corner. Fin sent it into the box but there was no one unfortunately in the box to receive it and the ball was kicked out of play by Sam.
The Failsworth goalkeeper's kick out resulted again in their team kicking the ball out of play and we got a throw in. The ball was thrown in to Luke who had a shot on goal but shot went wide. Play commenced and Fin was fouled. Free k...

A game of two halves, our last in the second division and our first real upset! Still, a fantastic gale to watch.
Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 1 - 2 Chaddy Park Eagles
Goals: Joe
MOM: Joe
For a change we were actually running on time and this seemed to work against us. With our players whisked on to the pitch and thrust into a game without having time to gather their thoughts, we were one - nil before we know it. Joe, Josh and Matthew worked hard to close the gap but the opposition’s defense was agile and awkward to deal with. When Josh threaded a pass through to Joe his shot was so accurate and powerful it smashed the keeper’s hand, sending him for an early bath!
With seconds to go before half time Matthew played the ball into the box where Jo turned, skilled the keeper and leveled the score to 1-1.
Jacob and Holly worked tirelessly as usual, clearing the ball from our area and tackling with strength and confidence every time. Switching Joe into de...

Score: Celtic Whites 6 – 0 Failsworth Dynamo Blues
Goals – Reece, Fin (x2), Luke (x2), Matthew
Man of the Match: Fin (chosen by Failsworth Manager)
Medals of Honour:
Reece - Fantastic cross to Luke enabling him to score
Luke - Another fantastic pass resulting in a goal from Fin
I think you would all join me in telling the boys how fantastic they played on Saturday and how proud we all are. The score line truly reflected how well the lads play and the results they can get when the ball gets through to the net.
It was a performance we all love to see with the line up involving the usual suspects in their usual positions but this game definitely involving twists and turns like a best selling thriller !!!!
The starting line up was Lewis in pegs, Matty the Lone Ranger in defence, Fin and Sam in midfield and Captain Luke and Reece up front.
Within minutes Fin "the Shark" Killan ran through a sea of players and passed to Reece who scored with ease 1-0. The next goal c...

Final Score: Celtic Whites 4 – 2 JSL Heyside
Goals: Wes, Luke, Fin (x2)
MOM: Wes
Can’t say it again, want to say it again ,OMG!! that was definitely the game of the season so far!!! There I said it, ha ha!
Who would have thought after last week’s fantastic performance that this week's show would be more entertaining, more skillful, more, well just more!
The starting line up was Lewis in pegs, Matty the Lone Ranger defender, Fin and Sam in mi field and a refreshing change Luke and Wes the Whippet up front. Right from the whistle Celtic put the pressure on and minutes into the game a dubious free kick was awarded to Heyside which resulted in a 1-0 lead after a stunning cannon ball in the top of the net (Lewis needed to be 6 foot tall to stop that one).
In the following minutes a couple of super chances from Fin to Luke, amongst many, but the target kept moving! and the Heyside goalie's hands were always in the way!&nb...

Rememberance weekend provided us with another weekend to remember!
Playing Failsworth Town in their own back yard was never going to be easy, not easy but oh so entertaining
Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 3 - 0 Failsworth Town
Goals: Josh, Jack, Joe
MOM: Holly
From the off our Blazin’ Blues meant business, driving the ball deep into Failsworth territory time after time. CJ and Josh looked strong on the ball and maintained possession well; both playing off their strongest foot worked the forward positions well along side Captain Jack. With a little over four minutes on the clock Jack had a shot deflected and Josh smashed home a sweet shot making it 1-0 with six minutes left in the half. Going a goal behind, Failsworth came back with vengeance; however, their efforts were snuffed out by the defensive skills of Holly and Jacob. Communicating well and hitting every tackle with 100% commitment, the “two-person iron curtain” made sure that only one shot m...

THANKS to our roving reporters Gary and Jill Jones for this awesome report!!!
OMG!! That was definitely the game of the season so far!!!
Final Score: Celtic whites 2 – 0 Clayton Juniors
Man of the Match: Matty (the marksman) Jones
Disciplined defensive display, topped off by the goal of the season so far!
Medals of Honour:
Wes – Midfield magician
Fin – All round high energy contribution
Following last weeks humbling at the hands of a very good Failsworth outfit, ‘remembrance weekend’ turned out to be ‘unforgettable weekend’ for those of us watching, as the Mighty Whites showed true “bouncebackability” and produced their best performance of the season so far.
Straight from the kick off you could tell the whites were up for this weeks challenge, with the Celtic lads first to every ball and winning the majority of early tackles against a powerful looking team from Clayton.
As the fi...

Final Score: Whites 2 – Failsworth 5
MOM: Sam (The Bulldog) chosen by Failsworth Manager.
Medals of Honour:
Wes – For his Pass to Luke which resulted in a goal.
Luke – For his Pass through to Sam resulting in a goal.
Fin - For his bravery in carrying on after a nasty kick from the opposition.
Bonfire weekend saw a real fire cracker of a game and even though we lost 5-2 we played some sparkling football. On the starting line this week was Lewis in goal, in defence Matt the Lone Ranger, Fin and Sam in midfield and Captain Luke and Reece up front.
This match was dog eat dog with chance after chance falling to both sides, but unluckily we had chances that just did not come off and Failsworth managed to creep in on our mistakes.
But hey ho on a positive note we had two cracking goals. The first came from a short corner from Fin to Luke who crossed it into the box to Sam who ne...

This game saw a few changes and most of them for the better!!!
Stalybridge Celtic Juniors Blues 1 - 0 Chaddy End Blues
Goal: Jack
MOM: Jack
Team player award: Joe
A short sweet report this week as my notes seem to have been eaten by the same mythical beast that eats odd socks kids homework!
Off to a flying start with some sharp passing and swift movement from Joe and Josh up front, Joe even came close to scoring after less than two minutes. Then Jack had shots in minute 6, 7 and eight, missing by the narrowest of margins and rattling the woodwork a couple of times too. Holly and Jacob are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with at the back, communicating well with together and with Thomas in goal. Thomas put on a great display of kicking both from the ground and from his hands, choosing his spot and hitting it time after time. This was yet another clean sheet for Thomas, who seems to get stronger week on week. Joe, who took up goalkeeping duties after half tim...
