A blustery wind was blowing across Blocksages field Saturday morning. Denton won the toss and decided to play the first half with the wind at their backs this proved to be a help to them in the creation of their goal which they scored early on! Slack start again by Celtic. We have to stop teams scoring in the first few minutes Perhaps an earlier bedtime for a few of the lads wouldnt go amiss. 1-0 Danny had a shot from the edge of the box which the keeper spilled in front of Jack who made a run from the left wing to fire past the keeper from 2 yards out! 1-1 After Danny was brought down on the edge of the box Alex fired in a Low Free kick around the wall which the keeper dived on top of, but the ball rolled out from under him and over the line 1-2 Danny scored our 3rd goal (sorry forgot the details) 1-3 We dominated the half giving Denton no chance to shoot or create any positive play. Half time Dentons manager came across to have a word with Paul and was concerned... Read the rest of this article...

The 15s bowed out of the League Cup today with a 2 - 3defeat to Kingsway. The game was always going to be tough as we only had players (Ted and Dylan injured, Callum poorly, Charlie unavailable, Joe M no show). To be fair however, the lads did themselves proud and after going 2 down, pulled it back to 2-2 before conceding the winning goal. Scorers: Danny, OG

Score 2-3.  Goals: Danny x 3. After a time and fixture change to get this game played, a slow start by Celtic helped Barhill take the lead in only the second minute. They scored with a shot that bobbled from the edge of the box straight through the defence and past Charlie who didnt see the ball until the last second and reacted well but couldnt get there in time. 1-0, 2 mins.  Celtic took around 25 mins to get going but until this time coped well with the pressure applied by Barrhill who were winning everything in midfield at this point and getting it back into our half. Celtic got back into the game after a high ball into the box from the right wing around the half way line by Alex, which wasn't dealt with by Barrhill's defence who expected their keeper to collect it but in ghosted Danny and headed it past the bemused keeper. 1-1, 30 min. s Now Celtic really woke up. The ball was won in midfield by Josh and given to Danny who ran through the defence to collect t... Read the rest of this article...

Today we completed the league double over Hollinwood. After a three week break we surprisingly started the game well having most of the play and several chances going up the slope with the wind behind us, however, we did not convert and went in at half time 0-0. Second half, Hollinwood took the lead with a well taken free kick 0-1. This to some extent made us work a little harder and we eventually levelled with a well taken free kick from Danny 1-1, who later got his second and what turned out to be the winner after winning the ball in midfield beating a couple of players and striking the ball into the net from outside the eighteen yard box 2-1. A good performance today given the enforced lay off and a few players trying out different positions. Good luck to Charlie (GK) who is going to Everton on Thursday for a trial. Scorer: Danny 2

Stalybridge Celtic  4:1 Saints Celtic started well with 5 or 6 chances to score in the first half with some excellent football. A storming run by Ted H followed by an excellent pass to Dylan H who settled himself then struck home to the keepers right hand side 1-0 A corner floated in by George E found Jack L who had ghosted across the front of the defenders at the near post and applied a deft finish with his heel from 6 yards out 2-0 Dylan H came off after taking a knock on the ankle from a Heavy challenge and Matt B replaced him. Matt B chased a ball punted from midfield, which he had no right to win but persisted took it under control and rounded the keeper and finished well 3-0 Poor defending and a temporary lapse in concentration allowed Saints back in at 3-1 Saints got their heads up a bit and applied a bit of pressure for a 10-15 minute spell then Alex B's looping shot beat the keeper from 15 yards out After which Saints didnt threaten too much and we settled down ... Today following a collective ten minute nap at the start of the second half the Celts bowed out of the Cheshire Cup. In the first half we went 1-0 up following a good free kick from Danny, which the keeper fumbled and Joe H was on hand to slot the ball home. The first half ebbed and flowed with the Celts using the offside trap to full advantage. Second half we didn't get started until we had conceded 3 quick goals. After this we got our act together and managed to pull one back curtesy of George. We then tried to get on level terms, however, it was not to be and Middlewich got a fourth towards the end of the game. Back to the league next week. Scorers: Joe H, George.

Result 2-2. If we had statred how we finished today I am sure we would have won the game. As it was we went in 1-0 down at half time, conceded another goal almost form the re start 2-0 down. Then with about 10 minutes left we woke up (literally) and JP scored from a corner (which looked like an OG) and then Mitch scored a cracker form outside the box 2-2 game over. On another day (perhaps with no parties the night before and a 2pm kick off) we would have won. Scorers: JP, Mitch

Todays game turned on a bizarre refereeing decision, we were winning 3-2 when Adam was taken out by a two footed tackle from behind. Now if Wayne Rooney had made the tackle - straight red - not today a few words and a pat on the back, and guess which player scored the next goal? apart from this decision, the game itself was a fairly even affair, with Prestwich going 1 up, we drew level with a free kick from Danny, Prestwich scored again and then Mitch drew us back level before the halftime whistle. Second half we went 3-2 to the good from the penalty spot after Mitch had been brought down in the box. Then the refs decision, followed by 3 more goals from Prestwich, two of which were long balls over the top and the other bad marking from a free kick. Scorers: Danny 2, Mitch

Today we played Springhead in the 2nd round of the Challenge Cup and came away 2-1 winners. Todays game was a very even affair and to be honest the weather was probably the winner today, as it rained from start to finish, which made conditions worsen as the game went on. Springhead took the lead in the first half with a well taken free kick and that was how it stayed until half time. In the second half we were up the slope with the wind and rain behind us. We drew level with a hard fought goal from Joe O, who scored after the ball got stuck in a puddle, with Joe beating the on rushing keeper to the ball and firing home. The second goal was similar to the first, this time JP benefiting from the puddles and mud to score from about six inches. The Celts were now creating more chances, but unable to take them. We then had our stroke of good luck. A Springhead player beat our offside trap and slotted the ball past Charlie, it looked goalward bound, only for the puddle that had now deve...
