After being spotted in a semi-final last season Aaron our team captain has spent the summer at Liverpools academy and has now been signed on a 12 month contract. Aaron has been with us since under 9's and will be a big loss to the team. We wish him and his mum & dad all the best for the future, and if things don't work out there will always be a place for him on the team. Good look Aaron !!!

Last night the under 13s played what will be there last game in the East Manchester JFL and were held to a 3 - 3 draw against Waterloo. As said before strange game football. We had the majority of the play and played some good passing football at times. In the first half we took an early lead and then conceded a goal from a free kick as all our players stood still (playing for offside) and watched Waterloo head the ball into the net. Second half, again we dominated play and added two more goals to out tally and looked in total control. However, Waterloo atacked down the right and shot, the ball looked to be comfortably heading into our keepers hands when it took a horrendous bounce off the pitch and went over his head and into the back of the net. This rallied Waterloo and they once again attacked down the right and had another shot, this went high in the air and hit one post ricoched to the other and went in. Game over 3 - 3.
Scorers: Matthew, Heapy, Danny

Yesterday the under 13s played Curzon Ashton in the EMJFL Divisional Cup Final, unfortunately they lost 2 - 0. With a 9:30 kick off the lads were always going ti find it difficult. The game was a fairly even contest with clear cut chances few and far between. At half time it was 0 - 0. Not long after the re start Curzon played a nice through ball which split the defence, the attacker lobbed our keeper and another attacker was on hand to tap the ball home. After about a further 10 minutes and some tactical changes and substitutions, we then conceded another goal again which was well taken by the Curzon attacker.
Only one league game left to play before a well deserved break.

Following last nights 2 - 1 win over West End Boys, the under13s have now secured the runners up place in the EMJFL. Since our last report we have lost to Dukinfield Youth 5 - 2 (they are the League winners, congratulations to them), and beat Brendon Bees 1 - 0. We now have two games left. Sunday 9th May we play Curzon Ashton at the Tameside Stadium 9:30 am kick off in the EMJFL Divisional Cup Final and then our last game of the season next week against Waterloo. Will let you know what happens.

Following two draws, the under 13s returned to winning ways today by beating AFC Stanley 3 - 0, on a very bobbly / sticky / dry pitch, yes you guessed correctly we were playing on Blocksages. As you can imagine both teams found it difficult to play a passing game. However, the Celts took the play to Stanley and quickly found themselves 2 - 0 to the good with goals from Heapy and Danny. Half time 2 - 0, a quick drink and a few Jaffa cakes and onto the second half.
This time we were playing up the slope and the game was a fairly even contest with both teams having various chances. Following a week off last week, the lads began to tire and the play became disjointed and the team was losing it's shape. However, with about 15 minutes left to play Nathan received the ball on the left hand side of the box and looped the ball over the keeper into the back of net, 3 - 0 game over.
A fairly good performance today, however, the lads need to learn to play in the po...

The under 13's lost top spot in the league today following a 3 - 3 draw away to AFC Clayton. This is the first time the teams have met and looking at the league table, you would have thought the Celts were a safe bet with Clayton sitting in the bottom half of the table. However, we reverted back to our old ways and found ourselves 2 down after about ten minutes, as usual it was if we were still in bed and not up for the game. Clayton were simply winning the ball in midfield and firing it forward for their speedy forward line to run onto. If it had not been some poor finishing by Clayton the Celts could have gone in at half time more than 2 down. Half time, a few words and a few tactical changes and onto the second half. Well yet again it was if we had sent out a different team (must be something to do with the Broadoak Spring water). With the addition of one more player in midfield we started to dominate the game and get the ball forward and after about twenty minutes we had ...

Today we played Duky Youth in the East Manchester JFL and honours were even. After suffering two cup exits at the hands of Duky, the boys were finally up for the fight today and were unlucky not to have taken all three points. It was 0 - 0 at half time with both teams having various chances. Second half we took the lead through Nathan after he battled away in the box to beat three defenders and the keeper. However, Duky weren't for giving up and replied with 2 goals following individual errors from the Celt players. This seemed to spur the boys on and after some good play Heapy did the same as Nathan and slotted the ball home 2 - 2. The Celts were now the stronger team, with Duky continuing with the long ball tactic. The Celts had a few more chances to win the game, Aidan firing just over the bar and Jack's touch just going wide of the post. A much better performance today, lets hope we can take this forward for the rest of the season and for our trip to France at Easter
Scorers: Nath...
