24th Oct 2009 Stalybridge Celtic Under 8’s Blue vs. Heyside Juniors Line up 2-3 Thomas, Daniel, Jack, Archie ©, Callum, Will,               Sub: Conor We started with a real bang from the off with Will having the shots inside the first minute & a half, unfortunately we could not make the early pressure & shots count & against the run of play we conceded, a deflected goal that sent Thomas the wrong way & he was unlucky not to make it back across the goal. Less than a minute later thing’s seemed to take a turn for the worse, when Daniel took a knock to his knee, on came Conor and made & instant impact, setting up the equaliser, picking up the lose ball on the left & sliding it coolly into the path of Archie for him to blast it across goal into the bottom corner 1-1.  Callum was next on the score sheet from another great pass by Conor; bearing down on goal Callum lifted the ball str... Line up 2-3: Thomas, Conor, Jack, Adam, Will, Archie (c). The game started at a pace I don’t think we were ready for & soon found ourselves behind, to a team that going into today’s game had scored 22 goals in 4 league games, 3 injuries soon followed with Jack & Will Bumping heads & Conor Defending a free kick with his face (substituted for Daniel). I must say I believe Jack came off the best out of all 3 as he went on to perform exceptionally in the air winning a good 90% of the headers he was able to challenge for. The first half came to a close with us 1-0 down with a chance of turning things round the team battled on fining it difficult to get time or space on the ball having a few long shots on target. A harsh free kick was awarded for obstruction, when Daniel got the ball caught between his legs & couldn’t get to his feet. A great ball in left little chance for any keeper & we were 2-0 down however the boys kept going managing to get a few more shots in befo... Read the rest of this article...

Whites gave a good solid performance today creating lots of chances, attacking straight from the off, taking the lead after just 2 mins, good passing & movement off the ball ensured we were 3 up at half time, with a few words of encouragement the boys said they wanted to make it 10 goals & very nearly did constant attacking football that is a joy to watch well done boys everyone playing a crucial role today good result. Goals from Declan (6) Oscar (2) Robson (1) Man of the Match Robson

BOUNDARY PARK A 2 V 6 SCJFC WHITES The whites made it four wins from four games today in a game they dominated throughout, though they never really got out of second gear.  Within 5 minutes Robson had passed 2 defenders and was through on goal,he then hammered a thundering shot into the back of the net for 1 nil, moment later Robson again had a long range effort which clipped joe on the way in from a cleverly taken corner, though Robson was definitley claiming this goal. Jack was called on near the end of the half where he made a fine close range save.Half time 2-0  . Second half we started to play a little more as a team, which saw Robson score again for his hattrick and again for his fourth, the boy was on fire!!.  The boys could of been 7 or 8 up by now but some selfish decisions by some players in front of goal were not taking the easy option. Then Boundary started to get into the game with a well taken goal. This stunned the boys a little. The ball was straight up ... Read the rest of this article...

SCJFC WHITES 3 V 0 AFC CLAYTON Last seasons league winners(us) versus last seasons runners up, so a real test for us to see how we would fare.  From the kick off we were switched on, though for the first five minutes it was Clayton who had the most possession without really testing us.  Midway through the first half Oscars dazzling run and superb shot into the bottom left hand corner put the young Celts 1 nil up. We then started to dominate with some great link up play from Oscar and Declan resulting in a far post cross which Robson had to stretch for to knock in from a tight angle with his left foot. Every boy was battling today and every one was playing as a team. Half time 2-0 Second half again we started brightly. Jack had a few saves to make, but great defending from Joe, Niall and Daniel made sure it was minimal. A great break away left Oscar running down the left wing and drawing in two defenders with a cross for Declan to hit sweetly first time into... Read the rest of this article...

03 October 2009 SCJFC Blues Vs Chaddy End   Line up: Thomas, Conor, Daniel, Archie, Callum, Adam.                  Subs: Jack, Will. Confusion surrounded the beginning of our game today when the game started with a size 4 ball instead of a normal size 3, while we were trying to get the referees attention to swap the ball, Chaddy End took the lead from a deflected goal that Thomas got his hand to but couldn’t stop it rolling over the line. When the game restarted we began to apply some pressure that saw us win several throw ins, and corners, our players were getting lots of space & on the third corner Archie pick out Daniel on the edge of the area, for him to volley home the ball to score his 1st league goal for the club. Substitution: Jack for Adam, & Will for Callum. We took a while to regain our shape after the substitution, we managed to do this and settle the play down j... Read the rest of this article...

Failsworth Dynamos A 2 V 3 SCJFC Whites A very tough game today where the whites made it very difficult for themselves. The boys started well with some good attacking play with no end product. Niall scored the first goal with a fine strike from inside him own half lobbing the Failsworth keeper. We kept inviting Failsworth back into the game and with two sloppy errors we found ourselves behind with 10 minutes left in the game. Up until this time the boys were second best and were playing as individuals and not as a team, we were second to the ball and didnt close down or watch our man.  The turning point in the match was when Joe was hacked down on the halfway line. This badly timed challenge seemed to fire the boys up as the game was now getting physical. A leveller from Declan gave us a a real chance.  Robson then scored to put the Whites into the lead in a game we really made hard for ourselves. We could of made it 4 at the end, as we started to become stronger, however in... Read the rest of this article...

September 26th 2009 Stalybridge Celtic Blues Vs Broadway Celtic Following our good start to the season last week, we wanted to build on that & go for two out of two. Line up: 2-3 Thomas, Daniel, Conor, Archie, Callum, Will         subs: Jack, Adam The game got off to a good start with Will through on goal after just 40 seconds only their keeper to beat, placing the ball to the left hand side, their keeper pulled of a great double save, less than a minute later Callum was through on goal & slotted home past the keeper. Shortly after the ball was dribbled out from our defence by Daniel, who got fouled, from the resulting free kick Callum made a great run into the channel & picked up the lose ball, good off the ball movement by Will gave Callum the room to take on two players & curl the ball round the keeper for his 2nd of the game, we were soon 3-0 up when Archie scored his 1st goal another great run down the wing & cut inside ... SCJFC BLUES 1 V 0 BOUNDARY PARK A The boys got off to a good start with a 1-0 win in our first league game of the season, It was Adam that got the only goal of the game after just 2 minutes, Archie made a blistering run down the right wing, Will made a run inside the defenders followed him, Adam was left in plenty of space for Archie to pick him out at the far post & Adam volleyed the ball past the Keeper. The boys relaxed into the game taking their time & passing the ball well, and had several shots on target before the half time interval, & were it not for such great keeping from the opposition they could have been 3 or 4 up at half time. Callum brought the 2nd half to life with excellent work rate, tackling & shooting, with three shots deflected past the keeper & post he looked certain to score after a powerful run down the right & cut inside only for another deflection to be taken towards another wise beaten keeper.  Our work in the week on corners c...
