After being spotted in a semi-final last season Aaron our team captain has spent the summer at Liverpools academy and has now been signed on a 12 month contract. Aaron has been with us since under 9's and will be a big loss to the team. We wish him and his mum & dad all the best for the future, and if things don't work out there will always be a place for him on the team. Good look Aaron !!!

Stalybridge Celtic under 10s completed their pre-season schedule in fine style by winning the Dukinfield Youth Tournament on Bank Holiday Monday. The 'A' team, unbeaten in nine games, defeated the hosts in the final 1-0, with Brad scoring the crucial goal from a sweetly struck low free-kick.
In fact, it was almost an 'A' team versus 'B' team final, the 'B' agonisingly beaten in the semi-final via a sudden death penalty shoot-out. Indeed, they held the lead until the final two minutes, after new sigining McAuley pounced like any good striker should when Dan's free-kick smashed against the bar, but the lads just couldn't quite hang on.
It was a fantastic effort by both sides, cheered on as always by their parents and a great boost ahead of the league season that starts again next Saturday with a tough fixture against Glossop North End. However, if Monday is anything to go by then its sure to be another entertaining seaso...

Stalybridge Celtic U9s helped kick off the Season for the Stalybridge First Team at Bower fold with a friendly game against West End Boys Club. The First team were playing Redditch and the u9s provided the perfect curtain raiser with a fantastically battled game.
It was Celtic providing most of the pressure, though against the run of play West End took the lead with a long reach effort that looped over Thomas into the net. The Celts continued to pressure West End with Callum hitting the post.
However it was West End who furthered their lead with a well struck free kick.
The Celts continued with a true fighting spirit and got a goal back from a great run from Oscar who crossed to William who made no mistake.. Half Time 1-2.
Second half saw West End further their lead practically right from the kick off. A long ball in left Joe and Thomas in goal both leaving it for one another with a West End pouncing to score.
The Celts continued to battle and p...

Last night the under 13s played what will be there last game in the East Manchester JFL and were held to a 3 - 3 draw against Waterloo. As said before strange game football. We had the majority of the play and played some good passing football at times. In the first half we took an early lead and then conceded a goal from a free kick as all our players stood still (playing for offside) and watched Waterloo head the ball into the net. Second half, again we dominated play and added two more goals to out tally and looked in total control. However, Waterloo atacked down the right and shot, the ball looked to be comfortably heading into our keepers hands when it took a horrendous bounce off the pitch and went over his head and into the back of the net. This rallied Waterloo and they once again attacked down the right and had another shot, this went high in the air and hit one post ricoched to the other and went in. Game over 3 - 3.
Scorers: Matthew, Heapy, Danny
