STALYBRIDGE CELTIC BLUES ‘3’- FAILWSORTH DYNAMO  BLUES ‘2’ By Alan Davies   Celtic kept up their good level of performance to just ease past Dynamos to stay top of the league. A good first half saw Celtic open the scoring with Callum Dawson again showing what a good left foot he has. The play was fairly even as Dynamos showed what a strong side they are. Nathan and Cameron had to be aware at the back but it was Callum Dawson who made it 2-0 and Celtic looked comfortable. However just before half time Dynamos pulled one back. It was early in the second half and Dynamos were showing signs of coming back into the game. This they did and levelled the score at 2-2 with a low shot into the corner. Celtic new they had a game on and the play was more in their half. Fortunately a shot across the box was finished off by Ryan to put Celtic 3-2 up. Dynamos nearly scored in the last few minutes but a couple of good saves from Mathew and good defending by Marcus a... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Celtic Blues 0 v 7 Reddish Vulcans...By Alun Ireland......... The Blues struggled against an excellent Vulcans team who gave them a lesson in passing and movement. Whereas Stalybridge never really got their passing game going, Vulcans were well organised, first to most loose balls, pacy up front and made few mistakes. The boys seemed down at the start of the game, when they were warming up – even though with 10 minutes to go until kick off there were not enough players to make up a team. And once the game began, it was one way traffic. Blues struggled to get out of their own half for long periods, and it was no surprise when the first goal came thanks to a good finish from the right. Tom saved with his feet, before Stalybridge had their first pressure of the match, Jack I fouled on halfway, leading to a long free kick causing the Vulcans trouble in defence. Tom then pulled off two outstanding saves, clawing a shot onto his post and out, before Vulcans posses... Read the rest of this article...

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 4-1 West End Wasps By Phil Read The Whites were not their usual selves this week and were slow to get going against a lively start by the opposition. Straight from the kick off the Wasps took a shot which hit the crossbar. Alex and Nic had to be alert in defence, and Luke provided a good outlet on the right wing. The first half then evolved in to a midfield battle with the only notable chances being a header from Callum that hit the post and another chance to the Wasps that was matched by a fine save from Josh. However, the Whites eventually showed signs of settling down and before half time Shay got his head to a cross from Jack to put the Whites 1:0 up. The Whites started the second half brightly and despite one scare early on pressed on and were soon 2:0 up with a fine free kick by Rhys. He was also unlucky moments later with floated shot clipping the wrong side of the cross bar. Sam on at half time, had to be versatile playin... Read the rest of this article...

Clayton Villa 4 v 5 Stalybridge Celtic Whites Goalscorers: Ben Bateman, Nick Taverozzi, Liam Riley, Jordan Mirza (2), M.O.M: Jack Searle The good run continues with a very hard fought victory over a tough tackling Clayton team. As usual the boys like to make things hard for themselves, going two goals down against the run of play to sloppines to say the least. Josh Rankin return to the side but not back in goal as James continued to be the last line of the defence with excellent steady handling and distribution. Josh in turn provided great cover at the back. After bringing the game back to 2-1 at half time with the team playing downhill in the 2nd half, the team showed the heart and soul required to quickly bring the game back to a 3-2 lead. Liam and Jordan led the line fantastically and but for a matter of inches on the wrong side of the post the scoreline would have been more positive. Then came back the silly season with pushing in the back leading t... Read the rest of this article...

The U12's won Delamere 5.2 to go second in the league. Delamere were very organised & out battled us at times. We got a good result but it was not our best display of the season, we tried to do too much in midfield and didn't let the ball go quickly enough. George, Sean, Callum G & Morgan never put a foot wrong in defence and were the best players today. Ethan didn't have a lot to do but was quick off his line when called upon. Alex tried to hold the midfield together, beyond that it just didn't quite flow despite plenty of effort. We need to give some credit to Delamere who closed us down quickly. Their defence made loads of last minute challenges & their keeper was really brave & must of saved a dozen 1 on 1's. Morgan finished the game with the goal of the season so far. He took on four players before smashing an unstoppable shot from 25 yards, supurb & man of the match again. Well done for the effort lads, a good result but we need to s... Celtic under 11s progressed to the semi-finals of the Manchester FA County Cup after dispatching Barhill Diamonds of the City of Salford Soccer League by 11 goals to 2 on Sunday morning at the Soccer School. In truth, despite the scoreline, Bridge were well below par although the heavy pitch certainly didn't help their passing game, but too often poor decision making and undue haste led to the ball being given away needlessly. It took 11 minutes for Elliot to break the deadlock, latching on to Sid's through ball. Tom then scored from the spot and saw another penalty saved, although Jack followed up to make it 3-0. Kai slotted in a fourth from Jack's corner to give Celtic a healthy half time lead, but the point was made that greater quality and effort were required for the next half an hour.A mistake at the start of the second half presented Barhill with a goal back, but within seven minutes Celtic added a further three goals to lead 7-1. Kai poked home from Callum's pass for number five,... Read the rest of this article...

SCORE : 5-0 GOALS : REECE (x2), LUKE (x3) MOM : LEWIS (chosen by Chaddy End Manager) MEDALS : SAM (for most passes) and LUKE (for his two assists) Another game of domination, goals and excellent team work! The starting line up for the Whites this week was Lewis in goal, Sam in defence, Fin and Adam in midfield and Luke and Reece up front. Wes was sub. Straight away the action started for the Whites and they certainly listened to the Managers' advice that this was a tough team to beat and to go out and do their stuff. After only a few seconds Adam took a throw in to Fin who battled for the ball together with Sam but Chaddy End won the fight and shot at goal which Lewis successfully saved. After this shot on goal the lads knuckled down and for the rest of the half were in control of possession. Lewis continued the play by kicking the ball down field to Adam who passed to Luke who was about to take shot at goal when was tackled and the ball went out of play for a corner. Fin sho...
