It was first (Celtic) versus second today (yes I know this is only our 3rd game of the season), so it was going to be a good test for the lads. Once again it was more like Chigaco than Manchester as the wind was blowing from on end of the pitch to the other, good thing was we seemed to have learnt from the same conditions on Tuesday. In the first half we played with the wind and took the game to Middleton, plenty of chances came our way, but we ere unable to score. Middleton had chances of their...

After last week Celtic really turned on the style,a diving header by James N at the far post set them off on what seemed to be a comfortable game. Dillon made it two, then a long kick forward by Reddish left the back four of Celtic static and we paid the price. A couple of minutes later and Dillon made it three, from this point on the Reddish team started to intimidate the Celtic players. Dillon made a darting run into the area only to be chopped down by the Reddish keeper and the pena...

First game of the season for the Saturday side and boy did it show.Gone was the flowing football of last season. We came up against a side who just lumped the ball forward and Celtic decided to follow this style of play. Hitting the ball down the middle for the forwards to chase after just did not work. The two central defenders for Brendan Bees had a field day mopping up everything that was thrown at them.On the one occasion that Celtic did pass the ball about we were awarded a free kick out side...

Last night the 15s played Mossley Juniors and came away with a 7-1 victory. In the first half we played with the wind in our favour (which didn't do us any favours) and went in at half time 1-0 up. Second half we passed the ball better and scored another 6, with Danny getting a hatrick, Dylan a couple and Tom coming off the bench to get his goal.. Jack also got his goal for the season following on from what looked like an OG in the first half (this was referred to the dubious goals panel - ...

Today the 15s played Springhead (the first time the two teams have ever met) with the Celts coming out comfortable 4-1 winners. In the first half the Celts took the game to Springhead and squandered a few chances, before Dylan battled his way through their defence and his shot deflected off the keeper and rolled over the line. George later then added a second, Dylan broke down the right crossed to George who played a neat one two with the post before slotting the ball home. This rallied Springhe...

Today the under 14s played Boundary Park and came away with yet another draw. Things were looking decidely dodgy for the 14s when only ten turned up to play. However, the lads did themselves proud with a very spirited display and if it hadn't have been for some strange decisons we could have taken all the points. The game started well for the Celts, going down the slope and applying the early pressure and we soon found ourselves 1-0 up with a close range finish from Jack. Before the end of the h...

Sunday 10th April - On a lovely spring morning the under 14s took on Clayton Villa and came away with a 2-2 draw. The game was very close with Clayton having numerous chances, only to be thwarted by Charlie in goals. In the first half Clayton scored (1-0) and that was how it stayed until half time. Second half we drew level with a close range headed goal from Jack. Then the tipping point in the game. The appointed referee on the day had not shown, however, as luck would have it another referee w...

Today the 14s played Prestwich Marauders Tigers and drew 2-2. Once again we only had eleven players available. In the opening stages of the game Prestwich had the majority of the play with their wingers causing all sorts of problems and we soon found ourselves 2-0 down. We did have the odd chance with George being unlucky when his shot came back off the post. Half time and a few of tactical changes and words of wisdom, Jack to centre half, Danny into midfield and Joe going to right back. In...

Today the 14's played Prestwich Marauders Panthers and lost 3-0. The game was always going to be tough as we knew we only had 11 players available, this was made even more difficult when one player was delayed and arrived just before half time at which point we were 1-0 down. The boys generally played well against a bigger more physical team and we did create some chances, however, the lack of substitutes took its toll and as we tired in the second half and conceded a further 2 goals. Full time ...

Today the 14s played Moston Juniors Blues and lost 3-1. After last weeks poor performance, today was always going to be a tough test, as Moston are currently top of the table, however, unlike last week the lads rolled their sleeves up and gave a battling display and if it had not been for a mistake by Charlie (goalkeeper) to concede the first goal and some rather dubious offside decisions (for both teams), then the result could have been different. We also changed the line up this week, moving A...
