STALYBRIDGE CELTIC "BLUES" U11,S 3 - 1 AFC Stanley
Celtic put in another top quality performance to beat a strong AFC Stanley side and it could have been a much bigger score line but for the woodwork.
Celtic started brightly and were putting pressure on early with some good slick passing but unfortunately the final pass was just letting us down , and when the referee missed a blatant handball and play was allowed to continue the ball found its way into our penalty area where we were deemed to have committed a handball and a penalty was awarded and converted from the resulting kick.
Our boys kept there heads up and before the break grabbed the equaliser with a neat finish from our inform striker Ellis.
Straight after the break Celtic won the ball and a great through ball from midfield found Ellis who lost his marker with a quick turn of speed and tucked the ball away for his second of the game.
From there on in Celtic took really took the game to Stanley and started finding more and more space as Stanley looked to be tiring , Josh thought he was playing crossbar challenge as two efforts came back of the bar and one of the post but the cool , calm Joel Hadfield didn't need long to get on the score sheet after coming on as a second half substitute, he took the ball on the edge of the area held of his marker and slotted the ball home for number three.
Celtic had a few more efforts but the game finished 3-1 , and a lot of positives came out of the game , not only did the boys play some good football but they out muscled there opponents when they needed too, and a good debut from our new Signing Ben Stanley who slotted into the team really well.
Man of the match - ELLIS KOSTYK 2 great goals , really looking the part now , plenty more goals to come from this little feller.
WELL DONE, still in top spot.
SEE YOU ALL WEDNESDAY FOR TRAINING 6pm - 7pm at Copley.
Next weeks game is way to Chadderton , directions will be on he news letter on Wednesday.
