There was a welcome return to league action for the under 11s on Saturday, after ice, snow and then a waterlogged pitch had meant this was only their second league game of 2012. However, another victory saw Celtic stretch their lead at the top of the Tameside Saturday League to seven points, with just four games to go.
Elliot put Bridge in to the lead after just 3 minutes, but Withington were soon level when they smashed home a penalty after a foul in the box. Following that rather loud wake up call, Stalybridge took control and another goal from Elliot, two from Bomber and one from Max made it 5-1 at half time and that against the wind and the slope!
After the break it was one way traffic, as Max added another three, Elliot completed his hat-trick, while Macca, Keenan and Tom all got on the score sheet. However, the biggest cheer went up for Callum when the defender, pushed up front for the final five minutes, finished coolly to claim his first goal of the season and a lucky 13th for Celtic.
That won him the 'Champagne Moment', while Brad picked up the man of the match award for a very creative display in midfield.
FINAL SCORE: WITHINGTON RANGERS 1 CELTIC 13
It's make or break time in the season now as the Challenge Cup and County Cup semi-finals loom and a run of three matches against their nearest rivals in the league will determine how successful the season ultimately turns out to be. Keep it up lads.
Training: Thursday at St Damians 6pm
Saturday: Failsworth Dynamos (Cup SF) home. Meet 9.45am
