U10s Match Report 11th February 2012

In the opening minutes, Connor went on a solo run and slotted the ball in to the bottom corner of the net leaving the BB goalie with no chance. The Team then passed the ball around well particularly in the first 15 minutes of the first half.  Following one of these passing moves, Archie headed to Will who neatly volleyed just wide of the target.  At the other end, Deacon was on hand to save the ball on to his post to keep the score at 1-0.  Will, Archie, Connor and Adam then combined and forced the keeper to pull off a quality save.  However, the Bees then took the sting out of the game, breaking down the Blues defence to equalise and then just before half time they scored again to make it 2-1.  There was just enough time for Daniel L to get a good shot in which went over the bar.  In the second half, Deacon pulled off a great save from a close range effort, it looked like a definite goal but he managed to quickly stretch out a leg and push it out  for a corner.  Owen put in a great challenge (one of many) to prevent the Brendon striker from scoring.  He was helped out by Will who earned the man of the match award for his general work rate and for helping out at the back due to injuries.  In a bid to get the Blues back in to the game,   Archie went on a good run but was denied by some quality defending.  Daniel L was unlucky not to score, hitting the cross bar and shooting just over.  The Blues then conceded a third following a great cross and header from Brendon’s striker.  There was still enough time for Connor to go on a good run and set up Archie who had his shot saved and Connor then had a long range effort himself which the keeper b locked.  Final score 3-1.  Man of the Match : Will

Brendon Bees A 2 v 3 SCJFC Whites

The second game was dominated by free kicks.  The first free kick was taken  by Jack Clegg, Robson headed bravely and forced the keeper to pull off a reaction save.   Robson was then involved again, this time combining with Callum who made a return pass to Robson who shot just over.  The Whites then won another free kick, Jack struck the ball with some force  and gave the Whites a 1-0 lead.  However, the Whites then conceded a free kick which BB scored to make it 1-1. The Bees then committed another foul, this time Robson stepped up to take the free kick and he smashed the ball home to restore the lead for the Whites.  Unfortunately, just before half time, the opposition scored from a scrappy corner.  Half time 2-2.  The second half started with a good effort from Brandon, a free kick from Robson and a further long range effort from Brandon.  Tyler made some good runs and was unlucky not to score when the goalie saved his shot.  As the game entered the final minutes, it looked like it was going to end with the points being shared but the Whites won a free kick and Robson struck the ball in to the top corner to make it 3-2.  Man of the match Robson – worked hard for the team defending and attacking and showed his class with quality free kicks.
