Stalybridge Celtic U8 Blues 1 v 2 Manchester Corinthians
Goalscorer:Jack Forrester
M.O.M: Lewis McMin
Stalybridge Celtic U8 Whites 1 v 3 Manchester Corinthians
Goalscorers: Lewis Ellis
M.O.M: Lewis Ellis
Aggregate result 5-2 Aggregate Loss
These were definitely games of two halves. In both games both teams were cruising at 1-0 in the first halves, then the lack of match action and training over the past 3/4 weeks showed in the second halves where neither teams players had the energy to match their undoubted enthusiasm.
The Corinthians team is much talked about but it was the S/B boys and girl who were head and shoulder above until the lack of match fitness led to errors and subsequent goals against.
In the Blues match Jack scored a great arrow like goal and Lewis McMinn played with true skill to match his gritty enthusiasm.
The Whites game saw the return to form of Lewis Ellis, not only did Lewis score but he basically worked his socks off for the Whites looking threatening with every attack.
Lewis' performance was even more telling when I discussed his performance with Burnley who has subsequently invited him in to train from this week.
The aggregate wins have dried up but the performances are still there to admire.
