Final Score: 3-0
Goals: Sam, Fin, Reece
MOM: Reece
Game started with the strong line up of Luke and Reece up front, Fin and Sam in midfield, Matty in defence and Lewis in goal.
Kick off found Failsworth straight on the attack which resulted in them getting an early corner but this was blocked by Fin and a battle ensued between their forwards and our defence which resulted in Matty clearing it to Sam who got it down to the Celtic end but unfortunately went out of play. The Failsworth goalkeeper kicked it out and we found ourselves with a corner. Fin sent it into the box but there was no one unfortunately in the box to receive it and the ball was kicked out of play by Sam.
The Failsworth goalkeeper's kick out resulted again in their team kicking the ball out of play and we got a throw in. The ball was thrown in to Luke who had a shot on goal but shot went wide. Play commenced and Fin was fouled. Free kick to Celtic but unfortunately Fin's shot on goal went wide this time. The goal kick this time resulted in Sam getting the ball at his feet and he hit the ball and found the back of the net 1-0.
Play continued with the game's only show of passing between Sam to Fin who passed to Reece who crossed to Luke who was unlucky not to score. The goalkeeper sent the ball out again which Matty defended on the wing but lost out this time but Sam had placed himself in an excellent position to cover in defence and managed to tackle and blast the ball to our area. Luke had another strike at goal but again just wide.
Another corner was awarded to Celtic and Fin struck at goal but no reward. This was closely followed by Sam getting the ball and striking too and unfortunately opportunity to strike at goal but it went wide.
Fin found himself the target of a second foul and was awarded another free kick. This time he shot at goal and hit the crossbar but fortunately the goalkeeper's fingers edged it back into the goal 2-0. Half time whistle blew.
Second half saw Wes and Adam brought into play and Matty and Fin on the bench.
Celtic were awarded a corner early on and Reece played a short corner to Luke (our speciality in the last couple of weeks!) who blasted the ball at goal which was somehow saved. Another corner and the same happened again. A third corner and the Failsworth defence realised they needed to be on top of Luke and Luke instead made a pass through to Adam. Adam was tackled and lost possession. Luke chased Failsworth but brought their player down and they were awarded a free kick. The free kick was kicked out of play resulting in a throw in. Reece threw in to Sam who passed to Luke who in turn passed to Reece. Reece shot at goal and this time it was his turn to hit the boards. The Failsworth goalkeeper kicked direct to Sam who did a great shot again up field. Reece had another blast at goal which went wide again. Play continued and a few minutes later Luke's had another blast at goal which rebounded back into play and Reece found himself in the right place to put the ball in the net 3-0.
Failsworth kicked off and Wes charged at them and claimed the ball as his own weaving his way through the players but was tackled and lost possession. Failsworth throw in found Adam who had his own battle with the ball whilst on the floor and somehow got the ball up the wing. Wes unfortunately slipped in a great opportunity to get in on the shoot at goal action and lost the ball but Sam in his defence position soon sent the ball back up field to Reece and another unlucky strike on goal materialised. Failsworth then looked like they were going to get a goal (and Lewis a touch on the ball) when Sam whipped the ball away from their striker at exactly the right second.
A few more heads up when striking at goal could have resulted in a lot more goals but on a positive note we stopped the Failsworth team having a shot at goal the whole match so well done Whites on another good win.
