Moston Brook 0 v 3 Stalybridge Celtic Whites
Goalscorers: Nick Taverozzi, Jack Searle, Ben Bateman
M.O.M: Nick Taverozzi
If ever a scoreline didn't reflect a game this was it. In the first half the team peppered Mostons goal, but for a spectacular goalkeeping display from Mostons debutant goalkeeper and last ditch defending the game could have been over before half time. To be fair to Moston however they did have some of their own chances which Josh Ramsden competently saved. Josh had a well structured confident game, keeping everything simple and distributing the ball with precision. The first goal of the game came from the unlikely head of Jack Searle. It was his third such attempt from well taken corners but an attempt he beautifully arched into Mostons top corner.
Then came the second half onslaught. But for a 10 minute patch of Moston possession, the team continued to break away in waves. Shot after shot either being effectively saved or sliding wide past the upright.
Nick T forcefully won possession in midfield, a role he undertook time after time throughout this game, took aim and looped a long range effort over the stranded Moston goalkeeper. Then came the cherry on the cake. Ben Bateman in his first game for the team did what he does best. Cutting in from the left hand side, Ben looked up and struck a thundering 30 yard effort into the Moston net. Game over.
What made all proud today was the quality shown by all players and substitutes. No matter who came on to the pitch at what point in the game they gave their all, were composed and worked for the benefit of the team.
Well done all.
