Aggregate result 5-5 Aggregate Draw
After last weeks excellent quarter final win, back to business in Division 1 against last seasons inter league cup winners Dukinfield Youth.
After a considered team talk, the game plan was to press the opposition, and restrict time and space as Dukinfield thrive off this in games. The Whites did this from the off, closing, pressing, tough but clean tackling. Key to this was the workrate of Callum McMullen who covered every blade of artificial grass in this game. The Whites nearly came away with a draw which would have been a fair result but came unstuck through a wonder strike from Number 14 who had been highlighted as their deadly finisher from distance, and who the Whites restricted to a single yet successful shot on goal. The Whites not only worked hard but dealt with the step up in quality comfortably and looked ever the Division 1 team.
William Hughes scored a poked goal after continued driving runs through the heart of Dukinfields midfield.
The Blues were playing against Dukinfields A team who are more often than not victorious. The Blues however were clinical, driven and passed as we all know they can. Strength was key to success in this game as Dukinfield have a number of strong quality players. Again knowledge of the oposition players strength and weaknesses helped with the winning game plan. Nullifying the usual prediatory goal threat of Dukinfields Number 15. 2 of the goals, being that of Jamies and Joes came off the back of excellent team work, with with clinical endings. Lewis McMinns goal came through a freekick after William F was cynically brought down by the Dukinfield defence having ran the length of the pitch. William went off injured but up stepped Lewis to smash the ball into the roof of the net.
Jamie played effectively both in net and on the wing. Key to Jamies Man of the Match performance was his direct runs and then considered through balls which kept Dukinfield on the back foot.
The progression continues..... Watch this space
