Celtic under 11s reached the last eight of the Manchester FA County Cup after a one-sided encounter against Barhill Aces from the City of Salford League on Sunday morning at the Soccer School
The first half was almost exclusively played in Barhill's half as Celtic created chance after chance and dispatched most of them. Macca got the first, when alive to a poor goal kick and was brought down in the box to allow Nathan to add a second from the penalty spot. Dan's free kick picked out Kai at the far post who controlled and slotted home to make it 3-0, while Elliot was on hand to score the fourth after the keeper fumbled Keenan's cross. Macca turned in Tom's left wing cross for number five, while Jack's through ball was dispatched in to the corner by Elliot to make it 6-0 after 22 minutes. Within 30 seconds it was seven when Keenan's shot got a helpful deflection, but the goal of the half saw Max hold the ball up and then play a reverse pass to Nathan who found the roof of the net.
Celtic got a ninth almost from the start of the second half and this really was the goal of the game. Dan, Max and Macca combined down the left and Max's cross was turned in at the far post by Keenan. 22 minutes then passed without a goal as Stalybridge were continually caught offside, either through passes being delayed or the strikers making their runs too early, while Luke got down sharply and then bravely to make sure Barhill didnt get on the scoresheet at the other end. Double figures were eventually reached when Lewis won the ball and Dan played in Macca who shot across the keeper to complete his hat-trick. With a minute to go the goal scoring was complete thanks to unshelfish work by Macca who, when clean through, squared the ball for Elliot to also complete his hat-trick and make it 11-0.
Keenan was impressive, especially in the first half, Kai was composed in defence and midfield and Elliot was lively throughout, but man of the match went to Macca for his goals and assists.
FINAL SCORE: CELTIC 11 BARHILL ACES 0
Training: Thursday at Curzon 6pm
Next Saturday v Failsworth Dynamos at the Failsworth Soccer Centre, Brieley Avenue, Failsworth.
