U10s crash out of Primary Cup

Avros 4 v 2 SCJFC Blues.....By Rob Dolan..........

The Blues played first in this Quarter Final Cup clash against last week’s opponents, Avro. The Team conceded in the first minute but then regained their composure and put together some good passes and movement. Tyler was commanding midfield but Stalybridge were restricted to long range efforts. Avro then conceded an own goal to make it 1-1 following good pressure from the Blues. At the other end Avro scored a scrappy goal against the run of play to make it 2-1. Dan S was working hard down the right hand side and then Will set up Tyler who struck the ball well but the keeper made a good save enabling Avro to retain the lead at half time. In the second half, Will had a good shot in the opening minutes and Deacon was forced to save low following a corner. A long range effort from Avro then found the target (3-1). Dan L put in a good cross and Will was unfortunate not to connect. Deacon pulled off some great saves but there was nothing he could do when Avro stretched their lead to 4-1. In the final few seconds, Connor had a shot which was parried by the keeper and Dan L was on hand to put the ball in the net, making the final score 4-2 to Avro.

Man of the match: Deacon – pulled off some great saves

Avros 3 V 4 SCJFC Whites

The Whites went in to the game knowing they had to win by two clear goals to take the tie to penalties or three clear goals to win the tie outright. In the opening minutes, Adam set up Callum, he shot low but the keeper pulled off a good save. Callum was a threat throughout the game and following a mazy run, he set up Robson who fired the ball in to the net to make it 1-0 (4-3 to Avro on aggregate). Robson, Callum and Archie had further chances but Avro scored (1-1). Robson then scored his second (2-1 and 5-4 on agg). Robson was clearly on form and he unleashed an unstoppable shot which flew in to the net to make it 3-1 (5-5 on agg). Disappointingly, Avro then pulled one back and despite further efforts from Jack, Archie and Callum the score finished 3-2 (6-5 to Avro on aggregate).

Man of the match: Robson – great finishing

Two teams turned up today, the Whites, who played some attractive football with commitment and work rate and the Blues who had some players giving 100% and some not remotely interested , no willing to work hard and wanted others to work for them which is not teamwork and will not help progress the squad, we are much much better than this..
