Stalybridge Celtic Whites 11-0 Ardwick By Lee Greenwood
After last weeks great victory the Whites continued their 100% record with a crushing victory over Ardwick FC. Both teams lined up with just 6 players, but it was Stalybridge who took control right from the start. Rhys collected the ball from the kick off on the right wing and unleashed an unstoppable shot that whistled past the keeper to put the whites 1 up within 10 seconds. The boys continued to put pressure on Ardwick playing some wonderful pass and move football but despite several chances they couldn't get that second goal. Ardwick were limited to a couple of breakaways but good defending by Sam and covering by Jack snuffed out their chances with Callum having a quiet time deputising for Josh in goal. From an Ardwick corner the Whites broke quickly to make it 2-0 with a hard shot drilled in to the net by Shay. The Whites didn't let up and made it 3-0 shortly after. Some wing wizzardry from Nick on the left before crossing to Jack to finish. It could have and maybe should have been 4 soon after when a great shot from Rhys hit the post and looked to have crossed the line before the scrambling Ardwick keeper got his hands to it, but the ref waved play on. It didn't take long though for the 4th. From a throw on the right the ball broke to Shay who kept his composure and slotted home past the keeper. Shay then made it 5-0 with another cool finish to complete his hat trick after a breakaway and there was still time for a 6th before half time when Jack scored from the half way line.
A change in goal at half time with Nick going in net though a little reluctant to wear the United gloves. Callum slotted in at the back with Sam moving into midfield. The changes didn't break the momentum. After a great move with some good passing the ball arrived at Jacks feet on the left wing, before cutting in and curling a beauty around the Ardwick keeper to complete his hat-trick. Jack then turned provider putting in a good cross for Sam to side foot in to the roof of the net for his first goal of the season. It was then time for Rhys to step up and complete his Hat Trick with 2 cool finishes in quick succession to make it 10-0. Rhys then finished the scoring with his 4th of the game. From a free kick on the edge of the box Callum cleverly found Rhys with a great ball across the box and he drilled the ball low in to the corner to make it 11-0.
A great performance with some wonderful passing and moving and a hat-trick of hat-tricks from Jack, captain for the day Shay and Rhys. Whites 11-0 Ardwick FC (Rhys 4, Shay 3, Jack 3, Sam)
