Today we played Springhead in the 2nd round of the Challenge Cup and came away 2-1 winners. Todays game was a very even affair and to be honest the weather was probably the winner today, as it rained from start to finish, which made conditions worsen as the game went on. Springhead took the lead in the first half with a well taken free kick and that was how it stayed until half time. In the second half we were up the slope with the wind and rain behind us. We drew level with a hard fought goal from Joe O, who scored after the ball got stuck in a puddle, with Joe beating the on rushing keeper to the ball and firing home. The second goal was similar to the first, this time JP benefiting from the puddles and mud to score from about six inches. The Celts were now creating more chances, but unable to take them. We then had our stroke of good luck. A Springhead player beat our offside trap and slotted the ball past Charlie, it looked goalward bound, only for the puddle that had now developed to slow its progress and give Jack the opportunity to clear the ball. Another good performance today, the players just need to play where we ask them to play and not keep questioning our decisions (think this will now be know as the 'Tevez Effect').
Scorers: Joe O, JP
