Celtic under 11's continued their impressive start to the season in the Tameside Saturday League with a 15-1 demolition of Dukinfield Tigers at the Soccer Centre on Saturday. Bridge have won their first four games, scoring 46 goals and conceding just the one.
The opening 20 minutes were a bit of a struggle despite a fine solo effort from Elliot Handley and Nathan Dunworth (Bomber) getting the important touch after a scramble to give the lads a 2-0 lead. A couple of changes brought a further four goals in the remainder of the half as Max Norman set up Jack Wray who in turn found the far corner and then Bradley Jinks played a lovely through ball to Max who finished with a delightful little chip as the keeper committed himself. Daniel South poked the ball in to the far corner for number five after good work by Tom Bennett, while Brad found the bottom corner from the edge of the box after Jack's cross.
An emphasis on using the width of the pitch at half time reaped its rewards in the second half, but not before Celtic conceded their first goal of the season two minutes after the re-start. Dan found Macauley Eyre who crossed for Tom to score to make it 7-1 and two minutes later it was 8-1, when Sid crossed following a short corner and Dan flicked it in to the bottom corner. A superb solo effort by Macca followed, beating three players after cutting in from the left and hitting a shot that was too hot for the keeper to handle. Jack also scored from distance for number 10, and Celtic went goal crazy to score another five goals in the last five minutes. Macca's jinking run saw him brought down for Nathan Greenhalgh to calmly dispatch his second penalty of the season, while Tom's fine pass allowed Elliot to get his second of the game. Macca and Jack combined to set up Bomber for his seventh of the season to make it 13-1, and Tom got his sixth following a free-kick by Dan that Max perhaps controlled with his arm to put in Tom's path. In the final minute, Macca forced the keeper to save and Max pounced for a deserved second goal of the game of him.
Macca picked up the man of the match award for heeding instructions to use the width in the second half, setting up four goals and scoring himself with a thunderbolt although, once gain, there were good performances all over the park.
FINAL SCORE: CELTIC 15 DUKINFIELD TIGERS 1
