Stalybridge Celtic 18, Medlock Rangers 1.....By Alun Ireland.......

Stalybridge Celtic Blues 8, Medlock Rangers 0
The boys found their passing and shooting boots today as they swept
aside their lower league opponents.

The Blues were on top from the opening minute when Will and Niall both
had shots saved, and it was only a matter of time before they took the
lead – Niall’s shot finding the corner of the net.

Callum doubled the lead when Archie played the perfect through ball for
him on the edge of the box, and he hammered the ball home. It could
easily have been more before half time with Callum hitting a drive over
the bar and Archie hitting the outside of the post.

The second half was one way traffic. Daniel crossed for Connor at the
back post to make it three, and William then battled through the middle
before passing to Connor for his second.

The Medlock keeper pulled off two good saves, before Connor and Will
combined for the best goal of the day, passing to each other the length
of the pitch for Will to make it five.

Will scored two more to complete his hat-trick, before Connor took
advantage of Callum’s run to make it eight and his hat-trick.

Everyone played well today, with Jack, Owen and James solid at the
back, and Thomas having nothing to save in goal.

Archie was deserved man of the match for a dominant midfield
performance.

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 10, Medlock Rangers 1

The Whites found their form of last season as they scored a perfect
10.

Adam opened the scoring early, showing composure in front of goal, and
it stayed 1-0 for a while as Medlock battled. Daniel, Jack and Tyler
had chances to extend the lead, but the keeper saved or the ball went
wide.

Medlock equalised against the run of play when they got a free kick on
the edge of the box which they drove home, but that was the wake up
call the Whites needed.

From then on they dominated, Dec scoring from distance as the ball
looped over the keeper, Adam getting his second when Tyler’s volley was
parried by the goalie, and then completing his hat-trick following up
another Tyler shot to make it 4-1 at half time.

The second half was all Stalybridge, with the keeper managing to keep
the score down to 10.

Tyler got the goal his play deserved to make it 5-1, before back
heeling the ball into space for Oscar to make it six.

Jack caused problems down the right, grabbing a couple of goals for
himself, before Tyler got another and then Adam scored his fourth.

A great performance by the Whites, and a reminder of how good the
players really are.
