Stalybridge Celtic Whites 4 v 0 Failsworth West..................By Tim Kieran.............................
Another good game this one, Celtic by far the better team , there was good understanding between the players, great passing , when the Celtic boys had the ball, each individual used the ball with intelligence, picking out passes or just laying the ball of easy and building moves with patience, great to watch, Dec particularly stood out, he was all over the pitch cleaning up and winning the second ball. This was the story throughout the game.
Niall nearly made it 1-0 only a great diving save from the West keeper kept it 0-0, however the opening goal soon arrived, a great strike with the laces from Robson 15 or so yards out left the keeper a spectator, the ball could only go in one place, the bottom corner and it duly did. The Celtic boys kept on peppering the opposition goal and only good saves was keeping the score down. 1-0 half time.
The second half saw the Celtic lads set a good tempo again, hard work on this hot and sunny morning, the passing at times was exquisite, with long stretches of possession, this was evident for the second goal, after at least 8 passes, the final one reaching Declan he poked the ball past the keeper 2-0. Halfway through the half Failsworth had their first effort on goal, Tom was even to it, then rolled the ball out wide for Joe, the ball eventually found Callum who swung a great cross in, Archie who had made a good run into the box finished well on the volley.3-0. All the boys continued to play well, applying good pressure , and not letting Failsworth build any momentum. The fourth goal arrived, Robson for his brace, another top finish, the ball fired into the net via the far post. The game could have finished 5-0, a great run with the ball from Oscar was unlucky not to get on the score sheet, his shot saved well at the near post.
M.O.M. Declan. worked tirelessly for the team, and was on the end of a great team goal.
