Moston Brook 1 v 6 SCJFC Whites
..............By Tim Kieran............
Celtic were back to their best in this exciting game with both teams going hammer and tongue to come out on top, there was some excellent football being played by both teams.
Celtic got off to a dream start going one up as early as the second minute, a great through ball from Oscar picked out Callum who duly finished into the far corner of the net, a few minutes later Oscar supplied Callum again, this time a neat lob over the Moston keeper saw the ball nestle into the goal for Callums second. Moston should have pulled one back, a one on one situation saw Tom pull out a great save . Celtic grew more confident and were passing the ball round well, this passage of play was evident as Callum notched up his hat-trick Celtic going three up. It was soon 4 nil, Oscar the provider again, good vision and a perfect pass found Robson at the edge of the box, one touch and then an instinctive finish into the corner of the net found Celtic four up. It wasn't all one way one traffic though, Moston were playing well and there was some decent football on show and they were creating chances, this made it a good game to watch, with both sets of defenders kept very busy. Moston pulled a goal back, a great finish into the top corner, this could have spurned the opposition on but Celtic kept it tight, with all the players working hard for each other . Dec had a great effort saved, a sweet volley from 20 yards out, and then Robson with the ball at his feet dribbled the ball past three players but unfortunately his shot was straight at the keeper. 4-1 half time.
The second half brought a further two goals for Celtic, but it could have been closer with Moston creating numerous chances Tom and Dec combined to scramble the ball off the line, and a further free-kick found Moston hitting the cross-bar from way out, a fantastic effort. Celtics fifth saw Callum finish well, a great turn and good strength saw him with a one on one with the keeper Callum kept his head and slotted the ball away nicely, the provider Robson, with a great through ball. Nearing the end of the game Niall crossed the ball in, Oscar dummied, the ball finding Dec who finished well to make it 6-1. The last few seconds Niall was unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet, an audacious attempt from way out on the right flank saw the ball fire just passed the upright.
A great game today saw two well organised teams show what can be achieved at this level, with both teams playing excellent football with plenty of passing and each individual showing good intelligence, with outstanding goals on show and some hard tackling from both teams.
M.O.M. Callum and Oscar .
