U9s Whites Still Top Of The Pile!

Another tough game today saw the whites edge this encounter with the only goal of the game scored by Archie, the goal coming after an Oscar throw-in  found Robson who worked well down the flank and delivered a teasing cross across the six yard box , Archie had made a good run and slipped the ball past the Clayton keeper.  Celtic had the majority of the chances on goal but take nothing away from the opposition who worked hard closing down and giving the Stalybridge boys no time on the ball, this showed with Celtic giving possession away with some rushed passes , to be fair it was the same for both teams as when Clayton had the ball Stalybridge did all they could do by closing them down and winning the ball back as well. There were some good individual efforts on goal, mainly volleys which were saved off the keeper or were put just wide, Callum and Robson with speculative efforts and Oscar also had three or four attempts on goal. May be on another day the scoreline could have been more comfortable but the boys did ok against a well organised Clayton and did just about enough to deserve the win and stay top of the league
