Stalybridge Celtic B 6 - Failsworth Dynamos 3 By Colin Wood
Like the Spring weather the Stalybridge team had a spring in their step and had their shooting boots on for this game. Celtic started the game brightly with Cameron making some strong runs down the left wing but failed to find the net with a series of shots on goal, however it was the opposition who took an early lead. Celtic then applied more pressure in Failsworth's half and direct from a free kick Cameron struck the ball with an un-stoppable shot which flew into the roof of the net. With some good defending from Matthew and safe goal keeping from Tom the scores were level until, from nowhere a clearance from a Failsworth defender found George who hit a long range shot which looped over the keeper and into the net. With Cameron and Lewis working hard breaking up play it was not long before Celtic increased their lead again and it was George who hit a left foot shot which beat the keeper. Celtic were now on a roll and the best move of the match came when Cameron found George on the wing who cut back and crossed to find Ryan in space who calmly found the back of the net to take a 4-1 lead in the half time break.
Stalybridge made a few changes at half time with William replacing Matthew in defence and with Matthew going in goal Tom played on the right wing. Failsworth scored an early goal which was cancelled out quickly with another long range shot from Cameron which again flew past the keeper. William made some strong tackles in defence whilst Failsworth pulled another goal back to make it 5-3. Again, Stalybridge came forward with some good runs and crosses from Megan and following some good inter play between Ryan and Lewis, Lewis coolly scored to make it 6-3 which Stalybridge thoroughly deserved with all the hard work the team put in. MOM Cameron
