Sunday 11th October, Venue Soccer School.
The Bridge rued their luck as Beechfield ran out 3-2 winners on a cold blustery Sunday afternoon. Once again Celtic, despite relentless 1st half pressure could not capitalise on thier dominance. Instead a soft free kick awarded to Beechfield was converted to award them a 1 - 0 lead at the break. The restart saw Celtic once again pile on the pressure only to be caught out at the back to make it 2 - 0 to Beechfield. At this point the Blues lost some shape and gave too much room to the away side, who were unlucky not to make it 3 - 0 after hitting the bar. PC and PD pushed Ben Caton up front to make use of his phenominal pace and were rewarded in minutes with a superb through ball from Casey Reid control and lay off from Chris Muir and finish from Ben Caton. But this game was far from finished, a long kick from the big Beechfield keeper was misjudged by Celtic keeper Cameron Derry and walked in by the Beechfield centre forward.
The heckles rose on the Celtic necks and a further relentless tide of Blues pressure followed. Then in a superb piece of individual skill, Kieron McColgan took a high ball onto his chest and smashed a volley in from a full 25 yards!! 5 mins remaining and Beechfield could not get out of their own half, but a string of attemps ended fruitless and with the final whistle blowing Beechfield ran out 3 - 2 winners - the referee kindly passed comment that the Cletic team were a credit to the Club in the way they played and conducted themselves. Man of the Match - Kieron McColgan for his piece of individual brilliance, special mention to Callum Gabbatt who gave a great preformance dispite not feeling 100%.
