U9s Blues Back on Track!

SCJFC Blues 2 v 1 Boundary Park A .....................By Alun Ireland....................
The best performance for several weeks saw the Blues take all three
points against Boundary Park.
The boys got back to winning ways with this well deserved victory. The
margin could have been a lot more except for some fine saves by the opposition goalie.

Stalybridge started well, having a lot of possession without ever
really testing the keeper, Owen providing good width and Jack tight at
the back. William – as every week – caused their defence problems with his dribbling.

And it was Jack who came closest to opening the scoring when his shot from distance hit the bar. But the Blues switched off, and from the long goal kick they were two on one and made no mistake. The boys kept
their heads up though, and they did not deserve to be behind at the
break.

A half time change of kit brought a change of luck, and the boys
dominated the rest of the game.

A strong tackle by Jack meant he could play Daniel S into space, Daniel
found Conor who crossed to Will who hit home. Shortly afterwards, Will
returned the favour for Conor to score, and from there the boys never
looked like losing their lead.

Daniel S was strong at the back, Daniel L worked hard and bravely for
the team, and Connor continued to cause problems. He was unlucky not to
score when one on one with their keeper, as 3-1 would have been a more
accurate reflection of the game.

A much better all round performance – men of the match were Daniel L
and Jack, but Conor, William, Daniel S or any of the others must have
been close.
