Stalybridge Celtic Blues 1 v 1 Northside ............By Alun Ireland...............................
A much improved performance from the Blues saw them dominate for

periods against a strong Northside team.
The boys put some recent poor performances behind them to play some
excellent pass and move football, with strong tackling and good shape
making it difficult for their opponents.
At the start, Northside threatened first, but Deacon was equal to the
shot. Then the Blues took control, dominating the rest of the half but
unable to find the net. Deacon had little else to do.
The best move of the half came when Jack was strong at the back,
finding Owen who played a perfect ball along the touchline for Adam to
cross – Daniel L just unable to reach the ball to knock it home. But
Adam constantly found good positions, Conor was running midfield, and
Owen – who was excellent throughout - forced the keeper into a great
tip over the bar when he shot from half way.
Northside went 1-0 up immediately after half time, but the Blues
continued to play well in an open second half.
Conor, William and Adam were constant threats going forward, and it
was no surprise when William won the ball on the right, the ref playing
advantage as he was fouled, before finding Conor who shot home.
The Blues must have had 15 second half shots, but Thomas was also
called on at the other end to keep his team in it.
A good performance to round off this stage of the season – but with
more of this effort over the last few weeks the Blues might have been
in the top half. In the end they will have to Settle for 11th, just making the cut for the second half of the season where the Blues will play in the B Division, from March Until May...
Men of the match were Owen, for brilliant work rate, brave defending,
and neat passing, and Thomas for his second half display in goal.
