U9s Whites Hi Five puts them 12 points Clear!

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 5 v 1 Moston Valley............By Tim Kieran..........

Another good game today saw the two sides battle hard, Celtic had the majority of the possession and played some outstanding football, with excellent passing, good movement off the ball, each player making themselves available, finding good space, this enabled Celtic to create a lot of goalscoring opportunities. Each player showing good composure on the ball, laying the ball off easy if needed and also playing the balls intelligently through the channels and out to the wide men. There was lots of skill on show today with great footwork, good turns, and top drawer ball control.

Lets not take anything away from Moston who gave a good account of themselves, they were very strong in the tackle, thwarting  many of the Celtic attacks with slide tackles and throwing themselves in front of the Celtic shots. Moston played some decent football, this made for a good  enjoyable game to watch.

Celtic could have took an early lead, a good pass from Dec to Robson down the left saw Robs hit a left footer just wide of the far post, moments later Callum found himself bearing down on goal, he was just about to pull the trigger when a mentioned above slide tackle averted a certain goal. Callum picked himself up and a few minutes later he did score the opener . 1-0. It was soon 2-0 - a corner to Celtic, Oscar took the free kick and it went straight in off the keeper.

Stalybridge didn't have it all their own way, Moston were awarded a corner the ball arrived in the area, Robson didn't get a full head onto the ball and it flicked into the area to a Moston player who shot past Tom to make it 2-1.

The boys didn't panic and continued to play passing football, this good passage of play brought the third goal, possibly the best move of the match, with Joe, Robson, Callum and Dec all involved in one sweeping move with Dec (Birthday Boy) finishing sweetly into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.

The second half , similar to the first Celtic keeping possession and playing some lovely football. The

fourth goal soon arrived courtesy of Robson, a cross from Niall found Callum who then layed the ball off for Robson to duly finish. 4-1. The fifth goal came Niall the scorer, amid a bit of confusion, Robson was on the receiving end of a high tackle on the edge of the box. The ball ricocheted up and into the Moston area where Niall tucked the ball into the net. With the ball still in the netting the ref seemed to stop the game so the coach could check on the injured player. When the play resumed the referee put the ball on the centre spot. I suppose that it what you call ( play advantage).

To round off. - A great game of football with both teams working hard - good hard tackles from both parties and excellent eye pleasing football from Celtic. If the boys would have got paid, they definitely earned their pennies today. The Boys are now 12 points clear in the league..
