Boundary Park B 0 V 12 SCJFC Whites...........................BY Tim Kieran........................
A slightly different format today Boundary were a player short so the Celtic manager did the fair thing and played five boys instead of the usual six, this didn't change the balance at all with the Celtic boys flying out of the traps and finding themselves one up within thirty seconds - Niall opening the account.
To be fair Boundary could have equalised straight after their kick off, Celts got caught short at the back as Boundary moved up field and only a double save from Tom kept Celtic one up.
On three minutes Robson tucked away his shot to make it 2-0. Moments later a good passage of play between Oscar and Joe saw Joe finish of the move with an excellent shot past the keeper to make it 3-0.
A couple of blinks of the eye saw the now rampant Celts score yet again courtesy of Oscar- a thunder finish leaving the Boundary keeper no chance. 4-0.
The first half wasn't all one way, Boundary were attacking in periods but any balls that came through, the danger was mopped up by the keeper Tom who was playing as an orthodox sweeper.
Dec had a volleyed effort saved well by the Boundary keeper, and shortly after Callum and Niall worked a good one two together on the break , Callum's shot was again saved, the opposing goalkeeper being far the busier.4-0 with the half time whistle blowing.
The second half was an even better affair with Celtic passing the ball well with nice little touches and flick-ons appearing more in the game, this nice work was evident when Dec found Niall in good space and unselfishly layed an inviting ball for Niall to hit first time for his second of the game, 5-0
Dec made it 6 then 7 respectively two goals in less than one minute, his first a terrible goal kick from the Boundary keeper fell to Dec's feet at the edge of the box and he tucked his shot away well. To be honest I can't describe his second as i was jotting down my match notes for his first goal. Sorry Dec!!!
Niall scored again for a deserved hat-trick to make it 8-0 and then another excellent finish from Oscar saw him bag his second for 9-0. The game saw a fair few Celtic substitutions, with today three players on the bench, this did not effect the game with all the players getting a good run out and then a deserved few minutes breather on the sideline . Robson made it 10 - a great run down the left he then brought the ball inside with good footwork beat at least three opposing players before dispatching the football into the net.
Archie came of the bench for the second time to make an immediate impact scoring the 11th and 12th respectively. It was that comfortable, the last ten minutes saw Tom play outfield and Oscar taking his place between the sticks, Tom - very unlucky not to get on the score sheet had a fair few efforts on goal, only to have them saved or they were only just off target.
Another quality display saw Celtic overpower the opposition with high standard passing, good understanding, unselfish play, good strength, and all round top football. Well done to all the players.
M.O.M. Niall.
