Celtic Under 12's Vs Clayton Villa

Under 12's League  Clayton Villa Vs Celtic - 10/10/09

The third meeting of the under 12's against Villa this season, with honours even at one win each before today's game. Last week saw a fine 5-4 win for Celtic to progress into the next round of the Divisional Cup.

Today's game was always going to be tough with Villa looking for revenge after their cup exit. Celtic started well with multiple chances to take the lead, but Villa struck first with a long range strike from their number 9 Felix. The blues pressed on, again  failing to put away their chances was costly, with Villa's Felix scoring twice more to complete a quality hat-trick. but the new found resillience of the side carried on pressurising Villa, with Tom Bradbury scoring from 15 yards,  Half time blew with Celtic 3 - 1 down . Early scond half an excellent Ben Caton was tripped in the box and stepped up to convert the penalty sending the keeper the wrong way. Celtic pressed on once again, chance after chance, but a speculative long range effort from Villa was dropped by Celtic keeper Cameron Derry to give Villa a 2 goal cushion. Gaps started to appear as Celtic pressed to pull back the Villa lead,  Casey Reid and Callum Gabbatt were imense in the Celtic defence, but a soft fifth goal for Villa took and a great reply from Kieron Mcolgan left Celtic with 10 mins left to play and 2 goals down, Villa scrambled in a 6th with a  tiring Celtic not managing to clear their lines.  With 2 mins left to play a superb Tom Bradbury was forced into fouling Villa's number 7 in the box to give Villa a penalty which was saved by Celtic Keeper Cameron Derry (2 penalty saves this year brilliant work Cam).

Final Whistle Villa 6 - Celtic 3 , A very good series of three games with 2 well matched sides, if Celtic had finished there multitude of chances today they would have easily ran out winners. Man of the Match Casey Reid - also a mention for excellent performances byTom Bradbury and Ben Caton.
