U9s White's Give Failsworth West High Five!! And Go Ten Points Clear!!

SCJFC Whites 5 V 0 Failsworth West Tigers...................By Tim Kieran...............
Another great performance today saw a rampant Celtic cruise to another deserved victory against well established opponents

The game started a little quiet with both teams finding their feet in the sodden conditions- getting used to the wet ball and zippy ground conditions.

The Celtic boys soon got to grips with the game and with some neat passing from all the team the first goal arrived courtesy of Declan, a good finish into the roof of the net, the provider Oscar with a teasing cross from the right.

The second goal, a special this one,was a solo effort from Callum showing great footwork whilst beating three opposing players then dispatching his shot into the bottom corner Left footed.

The first half finishing two nil with Celtic well in control of affairs.

The second half started with Celtic looking good and playing some lovely football, when they rarely lost the ball the boys showed good strength and regained possession within a few seconds. Any Failsworth attacks were dealt with ease, with Joe and Niall pouncing on any danger and with Tom controlling every inch of his area Celtic kept a tight ship.

Declan could have had a hat-trick following his first goal but unfortunately shot straight at the keeper having twice found himself clean through on goal.

Failsworth could have made it two-one, a shot fizzing past Tom from midfield but thankfully the ball just missed the target.

Oscar nearly made it three - his shot cleared off the line with a brave header. Robson and Oscar played a one-two short corner with Robson's resulting shot heading for the top corner only to see the keeper pull off a great save and claw the ball to safety.

Oscar did eventually add a third with a well deserved goal - the cross arriving from Archie. Celtic were playing fast flowing eye pleasing football, once again a lot of play being created in midfield after Oscar or Dec won most of the Failsworth goal kicks; the ball brought down with expertise then played out to the wingers path.

Failsworth having won a corner, the ball arriving in the box took a big deflection and was heading goal wards only to find Robson in the right spot to head it clear from under the bar, within the same manoeuvre he then took the ball the full length of the pitch crossed to Archie who had made a good run but unfortunately his shot rolled the wrong side of the post.

Robson did make it four-nil with a confident finish - the keeper just a spectator. Oscar rounded off the scoring with his second of the match - a tidy side foot finish from eight yards making it five nil.

Archie was unlucky not to get on the score sheet with a powerful drive from outside the box - the keeper doing well to tip the ball over the crossbar.

Well done to all the players - great football and another clean sheet.

M.O.M. Robson, A good all round performance Defending one minute, creating and scoring the next. Every boy did well today with some fantastic passing and free flowing football.  Well done boys, you're ten Points clear at the top of the league...keep it up!!
