U9s Whites on Cloud 9 from playing Whitworth off the Park!

Whitworth Park 2 v 9 SCJFC Whites.............By Tim Kieran.......................
A bit of an untidy start to the game, this maybe could be blamed on the opposition turning up over 10 minutes late. Celtic were soon 1-0 up-Callum the scorer, a shot at goal only to see the keeper attempt to kick it to safety and only producing an air kick, with the ball rolling into the net.

Joe nearly made it 2-0 but his effort sailed just past the upright, the score did double with good work from Dec, showing good control, he crossed to Callum who finished really well.

Throughout the first half the boys were getting well into their stride, notably Niall was doing well at centre half. Dec soon made it 3-0 with an instinctive shot that flew past the Whitworth keeper -a great finish that he seemed to take in one movement.

Whitworth had a couple of decent chances to score before half time but one was shot wide and the other a Tom save. 3-0 half time.

The second half started with Celtic well in control, playing intelligent football - playing diagonal balls, high class passing and plenty of movement off the ball. This excellent passage of play earned Celtic another goal -a good finish into the top corner, hit first time from 12 yards out from Robson to make it 4-0.

Stalybridge kept on peppering the Whitworth goal with chances just wide and their keeper making some good stops. Niall was unlucky not to get on the score sheet, a great ball from Robson out on the right wing found Niall, who showed good control and his shot on the turn unluckily just went the wrong side of the post. The score still 4-0. It was however soon 5 with Robson sliding in at the far post to toe-poke past the keeper after a good cross from the right.

Straight from the resulting centre kick, Whitworth pulled a goal back, hit directly into the net after the referees whistle. 30 seconds later it was 5-2 -  Whitworth with another reply.

Other teams may have panicked at this stage of the game but Celtic didn't seem to worry and stayed in control, this showing with Callum bagging his hat trick , the score now a more comfortable 6-2.

Celtic once again were playing decent stuff with plenty of interlinking passes and good movement throughout the team, Oscar and Dec once again the engines in midfield. Joe was unlucky not to score with an audacious overhead kick which cleared the bar. Another long range effort from Joe saw the keeper save well-the ball falling to Callum to tap in well to make it 7-2.

The last few minutes of the game saw another 2 goals from Celts, both tidy efforts via the inside of the posts. Robsons hat-trick and Callums 5th.  Just before the final whistle Archie won a free kick, which he then took himself, but unfortunately his effort was hit over the bar.

All the boys did really well today, showing good discipline and excellent play throughout. Fully deserving of their win today well done.

MOM Callum. On fire in front of goal today.
