The U11's beat Duky Youth 1.0 away in the league cup.
Duky started strong & were the better team for the first 15 minutes. They closed us down well & tried to play the long ball over over the top against the driving wind & rain. They had pace on the wings but failed to create any real chances.
Garrett & Ethan again stuck to their jobs & Duky had go through the middle but with Fletch & Joe winning every challenge they struggled. When they did play long we had the pace of Sean to mop up with Aidan quick off his line & commanding his area. Our midfield started to compete & we came in at half time 0-0 with both teams sharing possession.
We started the second half quicker & started to create a few chances. Callum had ran himself to the ground & Stucky took over. Jamie & Josh started to run at their opposite numbers Kyle upfront making himself available we started to create a few openings. Then the winning goal came. After a good one two with Stucky & Josh, Jamie was put through & like last week he skipped every challenge to smash one in the top corner. Game on.
Alex shut off their main threat & Joe shored up the midfield reducing them to long range efforts. Duky never gave up and camped in our half for the final 10 minutes. They finally got free off a corner & a glancing header hit the outside of the post. That was their last chance & we finished 1.0 winners.
This was not a great game of passing football. More so 22 lads giving 100%. Both teams only had 1 or 2 chances but we took ours.
Lads. Brilliant. The same as last week. Every single one of you gave 110% and came off shattered. You are starting to believe again & it will take a very good team to beat you when you are working so hard. We did this without some of our very strong players today which shows how strong the whole team is.
Well done, you should be proud of yourselves.
