The under 11's won 4-3 against Hough End Griffins to progress to the Quarter finals of the manchester County Cup.
After a good warm up on Saturday the lads donned the famous blue & white kit on Sunday morning to face Hough End from the East Manchester League.
We heard they were good & boy were they right.
Hough End started strong, they passed the ball very well, nice two touch, give & go football played from the back. They had 2 quick wingers who repeatedly tried to get around the back of us but we slowly adjusted with Garrett & Ethan at full backs sticking well to a hard task.
After plenty of pressure they finally scored & led 1-0 until 2 mins before half time, up stepped Josh Lowe on his return from Man Utd to smash a free kick from 25 yards into the top corner.
We changed the team around for the second half & put pressure on them the start. Garrett, George, Fletch & Sean at the back were comfortable, led by Fltech we had strength & pace, we looked comfortable.
Onto midfield, Lewis & Alex started to show their class & started to feed the wingers . They couldnt stop Jamie & we created chance after chance with Alex bagging 2 nice strikes to put us up 3-1.
We thought it was all over & relaxed too much. The whole defence got caught napping & the resulting shot got caught in the wind giving Gary no chance. We again failed to clear our lines & it was 3-3, game on.
It went from end to end, both sets of lads gave everything. It looked like extra time before we stabbed in a late winner.
It was hard on Hough End, both teams produced a wonderful example of junior football at its best. Utlimately it was the fighting spirit of the Celtic lads that won the day, they closed down Hough End & attacked.
Well done lads. That was 100% off everyone & what it takes to win. Same again next week & you'll get the same result.
