U9s Blues prove their quality with emphatic win!

The Blues made it a happy new year as they outplayed one of the best
teams in the league to start 2011 with a win.
Playing their best football for months, the Blues were first to every
loose ball and constantly threatened their opponents’ goal with neat
passing moves.
With several chances missed, it was just what the boys deserved when
Connor worked hard to win the ball in the right corner, and squared a
lovely pass across the box taking out the defender and goalkeeper for
Jack to slot home at the back post.
With Daniel S strong at the back, Daniel L and William were both
unlucky to see shots go over the bar as the Blues continued to press
forward.
It was against the run of play when the Blues got caught committing too
many men forward and Moston Brook made no mistake shooting past Thomas
in goal to make it 1-1 at half time.
In the second half, Moston had more of the ball, but Celtic got their
reward for hard work as Connor twice found himself in front of goal and
made no mistake either time.
Owen worked overtime to help keep Moston out, and it was only thanks to
two good saves from Deacon that Celtic kept their lead.
Moston scored a late consolation as the Blues tired with Connor
injured, but they held strong through a frantic finale to take all
three points.
M.O.M. Any of the team could have been man of the match today, but Owen got
the vote for fantastic attacking, brave defending and non-stop energy.
