U9S Whites Hit Moston Juniors for Six!

Stalybridge Celtic Whites 6 v 0 Moston Junior Reds..By Tim Kieran....

A nice and sunny winter morning with a 9am kick off saw Celtic start the game with lots of confidence, setting a high tempo with the midfield well in control keeping possession and using the football with intelligence.

Six minutes in and a clearance from Joe fell to Niall in the Moston penalty area, Niall slipped and we thought the chance had gone but on his way down a slight touch had the ball rolling into the net to open the scoring.

A few minutes later Dec had a decent effort which saw his shot just clear the top corner of the goal. A good throw out from Tom to Joe - who always made himself available - then passed to Dec down the right who in turn crossed a high ball into the box which Moston couldn't defend, Niall lost his marker with a good run and finished with quality for his brace.

Three minutes before half time Robson and Callum came off the bench with Callum nearly making it 3-0 with his first touch of the game but his effort found the wrong side of the post. Just before the half time whistle Archie crossed from the right and Robson met it well with a good headed goal over the keeper to make it 3-0.

The second half started like the first with Celtic well in control, a corner for Stalybridge saw an excellent delivery from Archie finding Robson who had made a late run unto the box to duly finish on the volley to make it 4-0. Barely 30 seconds later the ball was thundering into the top corner, a left foot effort way out on the touchline saw Robson seal his hat trick, and to make it 5-0.

Any danger that did come our way was coolly mopped up by Tom, with good hands or a confident clearance with his feet. The last five or six minutes of the game turned a little scrappy with both teams letting a few passes go astray, and the ball ricocheting between both teams players.

However Celtic found a sixth with a top notch finish from Joe, the ball came out of the Moston box following a Celtic free kick, Joe finding the bottom corner with a first time shot hit with purpose from well outside the penalty area (a deserved goal).

To round it up, a top quality confident Stalybridge side saw them playing at the top of their game, shining through against a good physical Moston outfit.

Well done lads. M.O.M Robson, 3 super goals today and a performance to match. And  Joseph, Solid at the back and a top draw goal to make both boys match winners.
