U8s Blues back to their best!

SCJFC Blues 3 v 1 Moston Juniors Reds          By Peter Roberts

What a difference a week makes! After a below par performance last week, the Blues responded in the best way possible, with a win and a great display against a strong Moston outfit. If the Blues can perform like this over the next few weeks, there is no reason why they can't end the season positively and make an impression in the forthcoming tournaments.
The first half was hard fought and even, with the Blues standing toe to toe with tough opponents. Archie and Will were at the heart of the best attacking moments, whilst Conor and Jack continued their great partnership at the back. The ever reliable Daniel made his presence felt in both defence and attack, he has had a good season, even when things haven't gone well for the team. Before the break disaster struck when the boys switched off and the Moston Reds took the lead from a corner. Defending corners is a little bit of a weak spot for the team and the half ended with a good performance but a deficit.
A comeback was always probable though as the boys were playing with confidence, but just as it appeared that it might not be our day, we started converting our chances. The first goal came from Callum after a lovely pass from Adam. A left foot finish made it 1-1 and it was great to see both Adam and Callum back to their best. William then made it 2-1 and he has obviously been watching Messi as this was a wonderful individual goal. Callum made it three with a clinical finish and the win was secured.
Don't make the mistake of thinking that this was an easy win, it wasn't. The defence worked hard and Conor was outstanding again, whilst Jack, Adam and Tom did their jobs effectively. All in all it was a job well done and I think the coaches did very well to get the boys playing at this level. A great win on a lovely sunny day. Well done to all the boys and their coaches.
MoM; Conor, outstanding at the back for the second week running though all the boys were excellent today.
